My sinuses are all out of whack and since I had a bad...bad episode with Afrin abuse last year, I've just suffered without it. Had a doctor give me a 5 day antibiotic treatment and while I can tell it helped, I'm a long way from being right and I don't want to go back now that my insurance sucks. I'm about 4 days past running out of the antibiotic and I'm still draining an unusually high amount.

So I've been using one of those saline wash deals where you rinse out your sinus cavity. I have some leftover erthyromycin (or close to that) antiobiotics so I broke it up into a powder and put that in the rinse instead of saline and shot that up my nose. burned like a sumbitch for a few minutes but this morning I am noticeably better - still not back to normal but better.

Is there a danger in just shooting the antibiotic directly into your sinus cavity? I've read that the antibiotics don't work as well due to the difficulty of them reaching the sinus cavity bacteria so I figured cutting out the middleman was a good idea.

A couple of things. Erythromycin is a broad spectrum antibiotic that tends to irritate the stomach (which is why many don't use it anymore). You are correct that it doesn't reach the bacteria as well as something systemic but then again, antibiotics taken systemically don't tend to reach the superficial bacteria. I am somewhat concerned that the antibiotic can effect the mucous producing cells in the sinuses (but will need to talk to a pharmacist -my cousin- first). Have you tried mucinex D at night? Tends to dry out the nasal passages. I had this crud. Used the mucinex D plus a humidifier with mentholatum worked well.

similar. The humidifiers usually have a solution you can use with them. I wouldn't put Vicks vapor rub in the humidifier. Too oily and thick.

became friends recently with a guy from Jamaica and he runs a bar-b-q place on the weekends. He set us up today with jerk chicken, pork, and goat with rice and cabbage.

The chicken and pork was so spicey my lips burned for an hour, but the goat was delicious. For whatever reason, I've been eating alot of goat lately - either from Indian food or various bar-b-q's.

I wonder if goat meat is good for you? They are kind of the catfish of the meat animals

the 30 for 30 on Tonya Harding was on and my mother was using it for background. After watching part of it, I perfoundly felt sorry (to a point) for Harding who went from an alcoholic abusive non-supportive mother with an frequently out of work father to an abusive husband working as a box mover who saw her as a meal ticket. Just a fucked-up life.

As a parent, it really makes me reflect on how influential I am over my children's potential

actually I did - I was scared so I only ate like 5 bites of it (still enough to get you sick) but not enough to wake me up in the middle of the night with a stomach full of battery acid

The jerk spice on Jamaican food is often too spicy for my palate. I like a little heat, but not to the point of discomfort.

April 19, 1943, Hofmann performed a self-experiment to determine the true effects of LSD, intentionally ingesting 0.25 milligrams (250 micrograms) of the substance, an amount he predicted to be a threshold dose (an actual threshold dose is 20 micrograms). Less than an hour later, Hofmann experienced sudden and intense changes in perception. He asked his laboratory assistant to escort him home and, as use of motor vehicles was prohibited because of wartime restrictions, they had to make the journey on a bicycle. On the way, Hofmann’s condition rapidly deteriorated as he struggled with feelings of anxiety, alternating in his beliefs that the next-door neighbor was a malevolent witch, that he was going insane, and that the LSD had poisoned him. When the house doctor arrived, however, he could detect no physical abnormalities, save for a pair of incredibly dilated pupils. Hofmann was reassured, and soon his terror began to give way to a sense of good fortune and enjoyment, as he later wrote...

"... little by little I could begin to enjoy the unprecedented colors and plays of shapes that persisted behind my closed eyes. Kaleidoscopic, fantastic images surged in on me, alternating, variegated, opening and then closing themselves in circles and spirals, exploding in colored fountains, rearranging and hybridizing themselves in constant flux ..."

The events of the first LSD trip, now known as “Bicycle Day”, after the bicycle ride home, proved to Hofmann that he had indeed made a significant discovery: a psychoactive substance with extraordinary potency, capable of causing significant shifts of consciousness in incredibly low doses. Hofmann foresaw the drug as a powerful psychiatric tool; because of its intense and introspective nature, he couldn’t imagine anyone using it recreationally. Bicycle Day is increasingly observed in psychedelic communities as a day to celebrate the discovery of LSD.

The celebration of Bicycle Day originated in DeKalb, IL., in 1985, when Thomas B. Roberts, then a Professor at Northern Illinois University, invented the name "Bicycle Day" when he founded the first Bicycle Day celebration at his home. Several years later, he sent an announcement made by one of his students to friends and Internet lists, thus propagating the idea and the celebration. His original intent was to commemorate Hofmann's original, accidental exposure on April 16, but that date fell midweek and was not a good time for the party, so he chose the 19th to honor Hofmann's first intentional exposure.

The MIF's youngest daughter's hometown hook-up is a farmer, he is going to be growing produce this summer, he told me he would bring me some tomato plants for my garden.
