"You’re too young (I think?) to remember the late 80s Heels, but Hedge and Saint might agree with me that this is more like a throwback to that era."
I'll take that. Not always the most exciting teams to watch with the Joe Wolf's, Dave Popson's and Jeff Lebo's, but they played sound basketball. I went into every season I was at Carolina thinking we had a FF caliber team, and truthfully, we did most years (maybe all of them) but we always got bounced in the Sweet 16 or Elite 8. But those teams won a lot of games...
They were the best of times. They were the worst of times…
Our college years definitely overlapped (85-89). We kicked ass in the regular season, but inevitably lost in the tournament to a team with quicker athletes.
Louisville in 86
Syracuse in 87
Arizona in 88
Michigan in 89
Glen Rice nailing threes on us like we were Sarah Palin was the worst of those memories. Still, I’m tired of these mediocre to shitty regular seasons. Win 25+ games pre postseason and get a high tournament seed.

KY is 1-7 in the champions classic, haven't won a game since 2019 and that was against Michigan fuggin State.
I didn't expect UK to win last night
but that's the problem
I didn't expect them to win

Cal promised DeJuan Wagner the starting spot the day he signed. And while Dillingham may have cost us some points, his prized recruit going 2/13 and having the green light to shoot didn't help. Jeff Sheppards kid is playing sound fundamental ball, leaving more on the table than he takes and Cal won't play him more than Wagner because of promises made to get him here.
Its bullshit, but its also Calipari.
We knew it would be this way when Cal signed this group of players, but there is nothing UK fans can do about it except bitch.
Consequently we saw UK with what should have been a comfortable lead piss away a game because Cal has no idea how to game manage freshmen players
Worse, he considers last night a win for the program . We hung with the best team in the nation.

What's even worse is that UK was up 14 in the second half and a whitey from KU was the main reason you lost...

But Cal did win another recruiting title this year, so you got that going for ya...

UK should start putting up banners for recruiting titles, doesn't seem like they're interested in winning any other kind of titles lately (and by lately I mean the past 10+ years)...

I understand that feeling all too well (sickening). Yeah, we had the miraculous run to the ‘22 title game, but blew it vs Kansas. Other than that? Not a single tournament championship of any kind since 2017. Not even a holiday tourney. That has got to change or Carolina fades from blueblood status.

I’m scared shitless Carolina will be the next IU….

Seriously.
When is the last time a team of "one-and-dones" (like what Kentucky has now) won an NCAA championship?

That’s why Penny stopped bringing in freshmen, and started hitting the portal for upperclassmen…

the early season losses just suck the excitement out of the year

You lost to the #1 team in the country. There is no shame there. Using your logic, imagine how it must feel to be a Michigan State hoops fan?
