For anyone thinking about voting for Romney (including IB, who is already including the honorific middle name when referring to him), I have two simple questions:

1.) What are his core principles about abortion, gun control, and the government's alleged right to force its citizens to buy a product from the private sector?

2.) How do you know #1?

I understand that not all conservatives care about abortion and gun control. But Romney's track record of governmental imperialism in the health care industry should alone disqualify him from any consideration by all economic conservatives. How can he say Obamacare is bad when his own Romneycare did the exact same thing?

Romneycare was so liberal that Ted Kennedy literally hugged Romney on TV when Romney signed it into law. How any economic conservative can even consider voting for Romney after seeing that sorry spectacle is bewildering.

And this time he really, really, really means it.

What's wrong with abortion? Think how much better off we'd be today if Barbara Bush followed through with that option.

Abortion - I am pro-life but nothing is going to change on this front no matter who is President. We've had a pro life congress and President during the 2000 decade and nothing happened.

Same with gun control. We've had a Democratic congress and Dem President and in no way was gun control in danger. To me, these are minor issues compared to our massive financial condition. The candidate with the best chance of balancing our budget without adding any taxes more than Clinton's automatice increases should be the candidate we support. All other issues need to be placed on the back burner. And you are hearing this from a right wing fundamentalist.

Yup, pride is the worst out of all of them.
Wow Mook. So your Mom isn't "using her head" because she won't vote for Romney. There can't be any documented or real reason not to vote for him. She must be crazy.

Why do you assume a President Willard Romney would make ANY attempt to balance the budget without adding any more taxes? What assurances do you have that he may instead choose to increase Obama's debt and double income taxes? That's his basic problem. He is a serial liar.

So you are subordinating the value of innocent human life to the acquisition of mammon? Bob Jones is rolling in his grave.

Speaking of Willard Mitt Romney, IB had better stop measuring the drapes in the Oval Office. Here is the first poll of Republicans since Perry got in the race saturday:

Romney 18
Perry 29
Bachmann 13

Looks like R voters decisively prefer W's little brother over the snake oil salesman.

Mook,

My Mom's 89. She will vote for whoever Shep, Brett, Greta, and Bill think is best.

If I were Romney I would explain massachusetts care as the people of state deciding what they wanted to do. It wasn't the whole country so it violated no fed constitution issues.

So I guess the Romney doctrine on health care is governmental takeover of medicine is okay as long as it's on a small scale?

He was for government run medical care before he was against it? If a conservative buys that argument, then he should apologize to John Kerry, who was skewered for it.

Now, I'll caveat supporting Romney with the fact I don't know Rick Perry that well. He may grow on me, but I'll have to reserve judgment until further review.

Bauchman, no way...

No, because when she talks she has no substance. She just utters typical conservative catch phrases such as Obama this, Obama that, no taxes, etc. even when it has nothing to do with the question being asked of her...
