If you’re following this new golf tour (LIV). PGA has suspended the golfers playing on the LIV tour next week. Even after that announcement more golfers are jumping to the new league. We’ll see if PGA’s arrogance, much like the NCAA, will be it’s downfall.
They are lucky that Tiger Woods turned down 800-900 Million to join LIV, or it would be in big trouble.

I could care less but it will be fun to watch the Majors this year if they try to play. Phil is just a plain old dick. I hope the Saudis treat him like that reporter.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm hearing of more suicides lately. A good friend's adult son two months ago, a friend of my wife's husband last month, and now, today, a colleague's husband, age 58. Distantly, I've heard a pastor of my sister's, another mother with young children. It's easy to blame the effects of covid isolation , but it seems much more than that.

Covid isolation brought out depression in some of those that ran on adrenaline of being with people. Being social. Keeping busy. That was their addiction. Things still aren't or, never will be the way they were 3 years ago. That's drastic change. IMO

I figured as much. Being shot down time after time does that.

I was really talking about sardis (since he was the one who made the observation about the uptick in suicides) but we can throw Rat in there too...

Sardis you are correct. It is much more than that.
We've been in a suicide epidemic for the last twenty years or so (and it's been a major epidemic the last 5 years.) The state of Wyoming (of all places) is 3rd or 4th on the list of states leading the nation (per capita) in gun homicides, and almost 87% of them, suicide. Hollyweird even did a horror movie about it pretty recently, Bird Box. Everyone is taking notice of this.
But just because people are taking notice, it doesn't mean people care. It is not the first time we have had a suicide epidemic but the "response" on part of the public and government policy is to shrug our shoulders and ignore it. As the late great Freddie Mercury said
Mercury wrote:Don't try suicide, nobody gives a damn
He was correct. Suicide? Meh. How about gas prices?
So why don't people care? Why don't people give a damn? Well, the very shallow answer to that question is it's pretty much just men who are committing suicide. Men are particularly lethal when they try it because they use a hand gun whereas the very few women who try it, choose poison and (in most cases) we can save the women before it is too late. So, the male bodies are piling up, and JUST male bodies. No women.
But that still doesn't answer the question (at a deeper level) as to why society doesn't care when men (and only men) kill themselves. The deeper answer is that society assumes (perhaps incorrectly) that if a man commits suicide, he is doing society a favor because he doesn't produce any resources and women have no practical use for the man that produces no resources. That is pure feminism 101, but it IS the reason why we were brainwashed to tend not to care. We don't value all male human life, equally. There is a hierarchy in male human existence and the men who take their own lives, we automatically assume that they were already at the bottom.
We have had many suicide epidemics in human history. But to my knowledge, there has only ever been ONE suicide epidemic that targeted women (and women ONLY) and that was in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Not only did we take notice, we acted. Feminism demanded that we act, determine why this was happening and FIX the problem. And we fixed it. We figured out why these women were killing themselves and we altered law and policy (first at the state level for just one state, and eventually all 50.) And now, our nation is largely in RUIN as a result of that change in law and policy. But at least women (except in the very rare exception) don't kill themselves anymore.

"In 2020, there were 45,799 recorded suicides,[3] up from 42,773 in 2014, according to the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS). On average, adjusted for age, the annual U.S. suicide rate increased 30% between 2000 and 2020, from 10.4 to 13.5 suicides per 100,000 people"
13.5 suicides per 100,000 people? That's 0.0135%, barely 1/100 of 1%. And that's what you're calling a "major epidemic?"

Yeah, 46,000 suicides (each year) IS a major epidemic. That is 72 times as many homicides in a single year, than there has been homicides in school shootings cumulatively since 1970!
Yes hedge, you are more disgusted with the 637 people who have died in school shootings over the last 52 years than the 1,456,000 people who have committed suicide over those same 52 years.
The only reason why YOU don't think the suicide epidemic is so bad, is you think nothing of the men who committed suicide. That is because feminism has brainwashed you into believing that men who die of despair, we are all better off for it.
