Hundreds over-taking the Capitol while both bodies of Congress were certifying transfer of presidential power..in order to disrupt the process..was "a bunch of morons posing for pictures?" You're just playing, right?Yes? My only problem with the response to this event really, is the current national delusion that a bunch of morons in costumes posing to get their picture taken and an angry mob outside (similar to earlier events all around the country like you mentioned) was an “armed insurrection” or “coup attempt” and other ludicrous assertions.

It was definitely a coup attempt in their minds. Misguided? Yes. Ill-fated? Duh. But still, it was a deliberate coup attempt, however idiotic and doomed to failure. I have no doubt that Pelosi and probably even Pence would've been seriously injured if not murdered had they been located and confronted. But I guess you'd say it wasn't really murder since they were just morons in costumes taking selfies with Pelosi's corpse, huh?

aTm's "just a bunch of kids fooling around" take on this raid is exactly the kind of attitude that would ensure that it would happen again and again. No thanks...

Yes. Me and my extreme and out of whack opinions on things like... (checks notes) protecting businesses and government buildings from angry mobs.

They were nobodies who should have been kept out of the capitol building with strong crowd dispersal and force if necessary, just like I said about police stations in the post you just used to try some stupid fucking "gotcha" moment on me.hedge wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 11:07 am "My only problem with the response to this event really, is the current national delusion that a bunch of morons in costumes posing to get their picture taken and an angry mob (similar to earlier events all around the country like you mentioned) was an “armed insurrection” or “coup attempt” and other ludicrous assertions."

They were not some kind of armed militia come to take down the government, there wasn't any kind of military battle. And now we hear these same cocksuckers on the left and right try to make hay out of the whole thing. Nancy Pelosi can eat a big fat dick. She wanted people to riot and was against strong policing just mere months ago. Now HER fucking police department, The United States Capitol Police, applies her same lax bullshit policing with feathered pillows, and now she acts like the President sent an army after her. Its total horseshit.

I said that I assumed you'd include the Capitol as a place similar to police stations, etc. Sounds like you agree. Gotcha?

Your mewling and attempting to minimize the seriousness and danger of what happened last Wednesday is kind of amusing though...

Switch the position of the "not serious" and "serious" and that is your position...
Truth be told, I'm pretty sure everyone in here and probably most people in general recognize that both situations are serious, but due to the political climate everybody is acting (at least on the internet) otherwise...

Re: Florida State Seminoles
Stating the truth of what it was is not minimizing the seriousness. This is the very problem with the drama queen attitude everyone is taking, primarily in social media to events that you see. Everyone has to virtue signal to their own side for approval and protection.
If someone doesn't claim "OMG, this is the wors thing that ever happned, nobody has ever invaded the capitol, it was a coup, it was insurrection!" then therefore that person doesn't believe it was "serious" is false. The fact that you are increasingly having to not only think, but express out loud the most extreme possible opinions to show which team you are on, (things like either "abortion is the worst atrocity against humanity that has ever existed and anybody that disagrees is the spawn of satan trying to bring about the downfall of decent society" or that "any limit whatsoever on abortion just continues the worst atrocities ever committed by mankind against womankind and anybody who disagrees is a a fascist on the level of Hitler" or whatever) just shows how fucking insane people are becoming. It's becoming obvious to me that just being a normal person with reasonable opinions is starting to become a ridiculous no man's land where all the circle jerk of nutjob morons on both sides shit on you because in their eyes you must be on the other side because you aren't as extreme as them

Re: Florida State Seminoles
creating two separate worlds on the internet isn't going to help that

Re: Florida State Seminoles
That's happening automatically. The "internet" right now is designed to take all content that currently exists, learn about you, and then feed you anything that you click on more than normal, and then continue feeding you that same stuff in order to get you to see the maximum number of advertisements. So you watch a video about George Bush, or something after he died, and then next it shows you an interesting video with a conservative slant, well pretty soon your whole fucking youtube page will be Prager U, Breitbart, and even Stormfront shit. Any other opinions will stop reaching you because it decided that the best rabbit hole to take you down to get you to watch the most ads was that one. And if you lean that way at all, and avoid content that dissents, its going to especially stop showing you shit that it learns you dont like as well. So if you are the left or on the right right now, facebook, and youtube, and twitter are already feeding those people only one viewpoint that they want to see automatically. Its never showing them links to the other side even though they exist, because all it cares about is how many ads those people see and the way to get them to watch the most ads and share the most content is to feed the people on the left one world and feed the people on the right a totally different world.

"Everyone has to virtue signal to their own side for approval and protection."
Who's approval and protection am I seeking in here? Stu's? Rat's??? I have always considered myself, probably mostly falsely, but still, somewhat of an anarchist and anti-government type. But I will say, in all seriousness, that I consider what happened at the Capitol far more dangerous to our country, as a country, than any localized vandalism or even burning of a building or almost anything else, short of (as I said the other day) something like the Oklahoma City bombing. I said soon after 9/11 that if the plane that had flown into the Pentagon had destroyed the Capitol instead (or even the White House), it would've been far worse than the Pentagon. The Capitol is a symbol of our country just as much as it is the place where congress meets. You might think that's stupid but it's true.
An attack on the Capitol is an attack on the country in a way that an attack on some St. Louis (or wherever) police precinct building is not. I am not saying the latter isn't bad, it is, but to me it just doesn't even come close to an attack on the Capitol, esp. while Congress is in session. I said before that I completely believe that some and maybe many members of Congress would've been killed or badly injured if they hadn't been escorted out before the mob descended. That crowd was ready to murder (and in fact did). I honestly believe that the attack on the Capitol was on par with the twin towers coming down. No, not in terms of death or property damage, but in terms of the psyche of the nation, if that's even a thing anymore. In fact, I think the attack on the Capitol might be the proof that it's really not a thing anymore, and I think that's pretty bad. This isn't any kind of virtue signaling on my part, I really believe it...
