MIL and FIL. My wife's GM had to leave and died a year 1/2 later, not able to return home.

Went to be with my father last weekend, age 85. He recently got dentures and doesn't like them. It's the first time he looked old to me My mother went with my brother to Spain and Portugal, a trip delayed from last year when they found cancer. I haven't told the family yet that the chemo that she is receiving isn't working and that it'll need to change.

I'm sorry to hear that Spacer. Mom's cancer is in remission but it has taken a toll on her. She had hip replacement surgery about 9 year ago and it was rough on her and she needs it again but won't do it , so that limits her mobility. She has a lift chair. Because I have stairs and no first floor bathroom she's all but done coming to visit me unless I spring to get a stair lift installed. I might do it - hell, I might use it for that matter - I already have to carry my 15 year old dog up the stairs at night because his hips are shot too. Damn dog has to be by my side 24/7 when I'm in the house and I hate to see him want to be with us and can't do it.

Anyways, I took mom on a cruise a couple of years ago and my sister is taking her to Acadia this summer so I think the kids know time is limited. She'll be 79 this year. Everyone in my family lives to be in the 80's at least but our bodies wear out when we're 70. Its a cruel joke by genetics.

sounds like 99 was a year Rat would rather forget....or tries to remember depending on how you look at it.

Fran sent a huge tree onto our roof in '99, but the rafters held. The water damage essentially destroyed half of the house though. Fuck almighty. That was some shit. I am never going to own a home with less than three and a half baths. We were splitting one bathroom during the reconstruction/remodeling.

Not meaning to play Can you Top This, but my home was destroyed in the '94 Northridge Earthquake. Had to scrape it away and was out for 19 months while we dug a new foundation and built a new home.
