Eh. SLED/SC can't stop the Feds. The state folks can bitch and throw a fit, but the Feds can step in and take what they want in this type of situation. However, the state can still prosecute Murdaugh on any state charges that don't match the elements of the fed convictions or qualify as lesser included of the Fed convictions. It doesn't happen often, and it usually happens in the reverse order -- if it happens -- since the Feds don't like allowing inmates to leave their system for state issues. However, it could happen.

Also, I would be shocked if a USA / senior career AUSA would want to touch this case due to possible implications that come along with Harpootlian leading up the defense team and the aforementioned lobbying for lenient Fed treatment. Plus, I can't imagine this DOJ / Garland would be too keen on such shenanigans given the interference that occurred over the past few years.

Harpootlian will find a way to make this about himself. His ego is large enough for its own zip code. I despise the fucker for his crusade against the bars in Five Points.
