I've been at some big games
and for me personally, its hard to me to take in the moment, its just a different perspective than watching at home with a color guy and data being thrown at you.

"the final 5:30 of the 1998 Dook game was as close to basketball perfection as anyone will ever see"
If only Carter's dunk had gone down. That would've been in the pantheon...

someone put together the top 5 loudest moments in Rupp arena clip - very subjective, but 3 of the top 5 were against UNC. Louisville wasn't in it.
If they made a top 5 clip for UNC, I'm sure 4 of 5 would be against Duke.
Loudest moments I’ve witnessed:
1992 Heels upset #1 dook as Laettner misses last shot
1993 Lynch steal & dunk to complete 21 point comeback vs FSU
1997 Heels comeback from 9 down to beat State under 3 minutes to play
1998 Vince’s almost greatest dunk of all time off the backboard in our annihilation of dook
2005 Heels comeback from 9 points down with 3 minutes to play to beat dook. Marvin’s rebound and score blew the roof off the Dome
I’m getting old, but those moments stick out to me. The Dome was rockin’ in our big comeback vs UK the night we took over the all time wins lead in 1990. Neither of us will likely reclaim that lead from Kansas.
I've been standing near a flight line with F-15's and KC-10's taking off one after the other, and that wasn't as loud as it was when Marvin hit the outback against Dook in 2005.
I was sitting in my uncle's old seats in 211. The upper deck shook. You could feel it vibrating, and when you watch the game, you can tell the upper deck was shaking because the picture is shaking as a result of the cameras being on platforms attached to the upper deck.
I didn't attend the other games you listed in person, largely because I am too young to have done so, but I can tell you this: the final 5:30 of the 1998 Dook game was as close to basketball perfection as anyone will ever see. Dook had talent galore and narrowed the Carolina lead to 4 (73-69), and Carolina outscored Dook by 20 over a 5:30 stretch during crunch time. It was amazing to watch.
Amen, Heel Brother!

Kentucky, winner of 4 straight and Kansas , losers of 3 straight meet at Rupp on Saturday.
3 weeks ago nobody would have thought it would have been a game.
it still might not be, but at least people think it might be.
I guess that's improvement
It took Calipari half the season to figure out what the fans were begging him to do from day 1.
He makes $21K a day to play 1992 era basketball.

What were the fans begging him to do from Day 1?
the lineup he has on court of Wallace, Frederick, Oscar, Reeves and Livingston (or Toppin)
instead, he played the entire season starting Wheeler, Ware, Toppin, Wallace and Oscar until the rock bottom moment being a loss at Rupp to South Carolina
Then the entire world dumped on him, he sat Wheeler and we beat #5 UT at Knoxville and have now won 4 straight with that line up.
The fans call it the Bennie line up because its the lineup the fans have been screaming for all season and when anyone question Cal he calls them basketball bennies
Now these fucksticks want to give Cal credit for turning the season around. He didn't turn jack shit around, he put in the lineup any competent coach would know to put in after 3 weeks of practicing with this team.
I am so over this guy now.
How embarrassing should it be for a coach to finally cave by mid January and out of desperation put in the lineup the fans want - and the team goes on a tear and is the most efficient basketball team in the nation now.

Syracuse plays zone and shoot a lot from the outside. They're designed to foul more than they get fouled. They're #230 in the country in attempted free throws this season. Plus we can't help it if teams play dirty against us, looking for any cheap advantage out of fear, jealousy and desperation. Finally, it warmed my heart to hear the State fans sitting in front of me at the game on Saturday already starting to complain about the reffing with barely 5 minutes gone in the game. Even more satisfying was our guys hitting 36 of 39 from the stripe...

You didn’t have to hear him all but cheer against your team like Carolina fans did 1-2x per week during the season like Carolina fans did for nearly 40 years.
That being said, I have missed him. Getting angry with Packer was part of being a Carolina fan, and hearing him announce games was a part of my childhood and an era when ACC basketball was king of all of college sports.

He was a bit arrogant, but it brings back memories when college basketball was at its best.
