yeah, two people from my job just started the books...and one chick got HBO and started the show b/c she wanted to follow along with our conversations.
I'm not sold on getting the books yet...but we'll see once the season wraps.

The real road bump will be when the fantasy quotient gets bumped up. They may lose a good chunk of the audience there.

not a whole lot of fantasy to be bumped up imo. I think the unrelenting violence and misery may turn more people off than the little bit of pixie dust that gets scattered around.

Decent ending to the season for GoT...but it lacked a bit of punch for me. There was no cliff-hanger, so to speak. It just was the culmination of three stories. I guess that's as good of a place as any to stop it, I just wanted something a bit more punchy. I don't what that punch would entail though....

without having to pay Sean Beans salaery next season maybe they'll have to budget to actually show a battle or two.

Heh @ the Dragons line.
Actually, as I thought about it more this morning, I think my struggle is just more selfish. I wanted to see someone I did not like get some come-uppance. The only characters to meet death or irreparable injury were characters that I liked and would have enjoyed having around longer in the series.
As it stands, I did not even get the satisfaction of seeing those I can't stand show any dread of impending doom or come-uppance. That's what left me dissatisfied more than anything.
(I saw the Dany and the Dragons thing coming a mile away...so it wasn't that satisfying to me)

some charactors you dont like will get theirs, others that you dont like now you will like in the future, charactors you like now you will despise in the future. again dont expect "good" to triumph over "evil" this story doesnt work that way.

"I suppose the "season per book" thing is going to fall by the wayside pretty quickly for AGOT, what with the end of ACOK overlapping with the beginning of ASOS and AFFC overlapping pretty much completely with ADWD."
STFU...

yeah, they certainly can't do AFFC and ADWD the way Martin did them.

The one character that Martin seems to be trying to cram down the throat of readers to switch from "hate" to "like" I just can't do. Sorry Martin, you just did too good a job of making him despicable to start with. Some sins are unforgivable.

it worked for me. the despicable one is now my second favorite character. I'm sure that by end of DWD I'll hate him again. regardless of "good" or "bad" he is a bad ass.

A Jackass is dead. Long live the Jackass.
Who knew that one of that crew would die at a young age in a violent accident. I am shocked! Shocked I say!

caught the late show for the Green Lantern
hard to say it was a great movie. It seems that all those superhero/comic book movies are entertaining but that is about the extent of it. If you've seen the trailer for it, you've basically seen the entire movie.
I'll give you the 15 second run down
"You have been chosen"
"With great power comes great responsibility"
"No way, I'm not worthy"
"We believe in you"
"Father, I need your help even though you are dead"
"I am a badass!"
"bad guy? oh yea, I'll whip his ass, get the girl and be all cool"
"stick around for the teaser after the credits"
