That's a big number even for something like Amazon, which is at around $3400 a share now, but Zoom was at around $325 on Monday and closed at $457 yesterday. That's massive. You could've bought some calls on Zoom on Friday and made about 100 times your money back by yesterday. Not 100%, 100 times...
I don't understand the appeal of Zoom , Microsoft Teams and Google Meet offer very similar functionality.

Maybe we pay for Microsoft Teams at work, but I know there is a free version you can download for PC and Phones, I'm not sure what we pay, but we can have live meetings with up to 20K people, camera support for up to 49 people (7x7) and file storage up to 100Gb per file (which may be installation dependent) plus it integrates cleanly with Outlook.
For a techie like you, it may not be noticeable, but for the rest of us, Zoom is more user friendly. I think that helps the marketability of it during this corona stage. I’m guessing their noncorporate, individual market share for Zoom is a whole lot more than its market share of corporate use.

Having said that, I would sell, too. They can’t sustain this kind of revenue after Covid.

1) People don't use Outlook outside of the professional world. They just don't. So, Outlook integration isn't a big deal for that segment.
2) It's catchy. Zoom became the trendy item. If I ask a client or potential client to use Teams, the 99% of the time I get the "what's that?" response whereas I have little to no issue getting someone to use Zoom because the person is already familiar with the program and/or app name.
3) I think there is still some anti-Microsoft sentiment in society. It's subconscious, but it's there.
4) People are starting to avoid Google like the plague due to its reputation regarding data harvesting. Google's issues are at a point where IT consultants are advising law firms to avoid usage of Google related software and tech.

two weeks ago we were having a customer meeting, the customer required we use Zoom.

In the middle of the meeting, someone hacked in, took control and started streaming hard core porn.

Now the customer is blaming us saying we are responsible for that happening.

I wasn't on the call or I would have taken a screen shot, but the customer is not amused and is making some threats. They demand we use their platform and then blame us for it getting hacked.

LMAO

I know Zoom has its issues. I wasn't praising it.

That's just funny though.

big brother is pretty heavy on our work computers. I'm certain they know I spend an inordinate amount of time here, and have been doing so for 15 years but I'm not brave enough to watch porn on a company laptop - even at home or on the road on my own network

I'm pretty religious about not doing anything sketchy on a company computer.

interesting post I saw on some site talking about Biden getting Covid-19, getting close to death, unable to debate and being praised as a hero as he miraculously pulls thru the last couple of weeks in October - at the same time Harris is building up her bon-fides as presidential material on the campaign trail.

Can any of you guys figure out why our good friend Rat hasn't been posting his doom and gloom for the stock market lately like he was doing back in June-July? Would sure like to hear from him and get some insight to his expertise on this. :D

A defense of looting...

Last week, NPR’s Code Switch published an interview with Vicky Osterweil, the author of In Defense of Looting: A Riotous History of Uncivil Action. NPR summarizes the book as an argument that “looting is a powerful tool to bring about real, lasting change in society.” Looting is good, she says, because it exposes a deep truth about the great American confidence game, which is that “without police and without state oppression, we can have things for free.”

Osterweil’s argument is simple. The “so-called” United States was founded in “cis-hetero-patriarchal racial capitalist” violence. That violence produced our current system, particularly its property relations, and looting is a remedy for that sickness. “Looting rejects the legitimacy of ownership rights and property, the moral injunction to work for a living, and the ‘justice’ of law and order,” she writes. Ownership of things—not just people—is “innately, structurally white supremacist.”

The rest of the remedy is more violence, which she celebrates as an underrated engine for social justice. The destruction of businesses is an “experience of pleasure, joy, and freedom,” Osterweil writes. It is also a form of “queer birth.” “Riots are violent, extreme, and femme as fuck,” according to Osterweil. “They rip, tear, burn, and destroy to give birth to a new world.” She reserves her most pungent criticism for advocates of nonviolence, a “bankrupt concept” primarily valuable for enlisting “northern liberals.”

Liberal is pejorative in this book. Martin Luther King Jr. is grudgingly acknowledged as a positive figure, but not as positive a figure as he would have been if he had kicked some white-capitalist ass and put a few pigs in the ICU. The “I Have a Dream” speech was, Osterweil writes, “the product of a series of sellouts and silencings, of nonviolent leaders dampening the militancy of the grass roots” and “sapping the movement’s energy.” More to her taste is Robert F. Williams, who practiced armed resistance, and Assata Shakur, who murdered a New Jersey police officer and remains a fugitive in Cuba. The violence needn’t be in self-defense—Shakur’s certainly was not. Osterweil quotes the “wisdom” of Stokely Carmichael: “Responsibility for the use of violence by black men, whether in self-defense or initiated by them, lies with the white community.”

when the police won't act, you're asking people who have no business toting guns into a public area to do just that.

It won't end well for them or protestors.

Not a good time to be UK. History is finally catching up with you. Now you'll eat your own and I'll laugh as the program collapses into mediocrity. Nobody is going to want to play there. I love it...

Crotch gets to decide what it "really" means to be a UK supporter more than Rex Chapman does (I have it on good authority that UK fans run the show). Like I said, the demise of UK hoops is at hand, and that's precisely why. And Crotch and Co. couldn't give a shit. Fuck it all, if they're not going to adhere to Rupp's racism that has been the life blood of the program since its inception. Without the racism, why even bother? Right, Crotch? Ah well, good riddance. About time....
