I doubt Bacot and Love return. Their draft stock / professional prospects will never get better than this. Absent obscene NIL money, I would imagine they are better off going pro, even if is getting two way contracts or going to Europe to earn decent six figure salaries.

I think Davis returns because there are not many teams dying to get a streaky six foot tall combo guard.

In the last few minutes of the game, they played like we did against Duke. Hit their 3's, made their shots down low. We didn't. Game...

Manek is gone, and I expect Harris, Walton and Garcia are transferring out.

IF everyone returns (Black is a senior but has a Covid year), that leaves us with twelve scholarship guys. That is a 1/1000 possibility, but I guess it could happen. The intrigue is then how Hubert uses the open scholarship in the transfer portal. Does he go for a big to backup Bacot (or trust the injury prone and small freshman Washington), get another stretch 4 like Manek or seek a scoring guard to come off of the bench with Trimble behind Love and Davis? With the rise of Styles and Johnson, I think he would roll the dice on the guard and gamble with the lack of post depth.

Personally, I think Love and Bacot are gone, and that has been the expectation all season. So, that would leave three openings to use in the portal if those two leave along with Harris, Walton and Garcia. Then you have to assume that Davis tries to get one of each (guard, stretch 4 and a big) and hope they gel correctly with time. If not, it’s busting ass to have a shot at squeaking into the tournament with no hope for a run like this.

Everyone seems to think GG Jackson is coming to Carolina in ‘23. If Davis is a senior and Johnson, Styles, Trimble and Washington progress along with some of the young kids developing into reliable reserves, that team could compete for a national title if they have a big man and Jackson lives up to the hype (I believe he will).

people have been talking about Bacot in the transfer portal for a couple of weeks now

I don't have any idea what its based on and this run may have changed it. It might have just been wishful thinking but there was a lot of smoke to it.

Bacot as in Armando Bacot?

"UNC might be champss come June this one is getting taken away from Slef"

I'll never claim it if that happens. Never...

I think Styles and Puff will be really good next year. I can't imagine Davis going anywhere. That's a decent nucleus, but of course hinges on Styles and Puff actually producing. Not expecting much from Washington next year, like you said, he's undersized and injury prone. Maybe this Trimble kid will be OK. Not sure about the whitey, obviously would love to see him gel into a Luke Maye type of player, but no way that happens in his first year.

Hopefully next year will be fun watching the guys get better and bond as a team, like the 2006 squad, but not much hope of any kind of run like this year. I'm a little conflicted on Leaky, obviously he had his best season ever this year, but he's an offensive liability and I'm not sure it's worth sacrificing the playing time of a younger player that could use it. OTOH, he's be a classic Carolina team leader like George Lynch or David Noel, but those guys could score and rebound way better than Leaky. Leaky is really a glorified Jackie Manuel, I like having him on the team, but who's going to score?

My brother just told me that he heard Bacot had signed a $1 million NIL deal...

I have no idea, is there more than one Bacot out there?

Bacot and Love are going to declare for the draft. They may not hire agents though, and if they come back, we will all be angry as hell with Love by January only to talk about how much we love his gunslinger mentality five minutes later when he hits a clutch shot he has no business hitting.

Even with those two coming back, we would need to find another stretch 4.

well I hate for the UNC fans, they didn't get it but you ruined Coach K's retirement tour in grand fashion

given it was a nightmare scenario for UK fans, as a UK fan it turned out about as best as it could.

Coach K will be haunted by those 2 losses to UNC, UNC had a great run but failed in adding to the National Championship total and while Kansas won, in all probability they are gonna get bitch slapped by the NCAA and have to forfeit a season.

I guess Villanova winning would have been best but then again, Villanova doesn't deserve 3 championships in a decade. Thats some crazy shit

What about Puff? He's 6'8" and can shoot. Needs to gain a little weight and maybe a tad short (ideally) but he should work...

"UNC had a great run but failed in adding to the National Championship total"

Yep, 4 natties in 17 years for us would've been a tough pill to swallow for UK fans. Esp. after getting bounced by a 15 seed...
