The chick vocals are a little unusual. Not sure if she sings like that all the time or what. The song plus video have an original feel though, which is all too lacking these days.

if you have time you guys should read this article about Jason Everman.
They're saying on the Tom Petty channel that it's not confirmed he's dead (also seeing this from other sources). That would be the greatest comeback ever if he survives this...

Makes sense because you can stand him up at the gates of hell but he won’t back down.

He's doing the Wilbury Twist in a better place now.

Maybe he can work on getting the band back together with George Harrison and Roy Orbison.

There's something about Tom Petty that was authentic. He reminds me of the vibe I get from Dylan or the Stones. Flawed. Ugly. Self deprecating. Real. Contrast this to a guy like Springsteen, who was more of an icon. An ideal. A brand. And in terms of songwriting couldn't hold Petty's jock.

Petty's masterpiece to me is Mary Jane's last dance. I don't know what combination of guitar and amp that is, and not sure if it's even Petty or Jeff Lynne playing it, but whoever and whatever it is, they are just fucking shredding it like nobody's business. I've been listening to this in my car and home stereo nonstop over the last few days. Going to miss that ugly bastard.
