Cynthia Tucker: Trump supporters applaud Russian interference
48 min ago
that is simply astounding. For all their attempts (perhaps successful) to influence the results of the 2016 presidential election, and for all their likely efforts to try to influence future elections, Russian hackers don’t constitute the greatest threat to American democracy. That C-Span caller and her ilk represent a far graver menace.
It seems that a sizable contingent of the country is perfectly willing to abandon the U.S. Constitution — to forgo all of our democratic institutions — if they don’t get their way. As long as they get to have Trump as president — with all his lies, corruption and moral indecency — nothing else matters. He indulges their wish for an era before Muslim women in Congress, before gays serving openly in the U.S. military, before a black man in the Oval Office.
Nothing in the Mueller report will stay those impulses. Our democracy is in peril — and Trump and his factotums, including Barr, are merely symptoms of the deeper infection.
Seriously, patriots - WHY did Russia work to get Trump elected? Think it over. If your pat answer is "I'm glad they did" or even "I don't care", then this article may have you in mind.

Yeah, because of the Mueller report, the Democrats finally have Trump right where they want him.

No obstruction of justice. If there had been, Lurch would have indicted Trump for it.
Lurch? You still have a hard-on for Mueller? He didn't ask for the job...dude probably thought he was doing the country a favor. You know his background. Surely you don't mind the russkie indictments.
He sure had an itchy indictment trigger finger. He indicted Manaforr at least a dozen times.
AGAIN. Are you going 'round the bend a little bit, old man? Mueller basically sky-writed in the heavens that the Constitution precluded him from indicting or prosecuting a sitting president. And that includes Donald "I'm so fucked" Trump. You really need to grasp that concept going forward.

And about Manafort. The guy spirited millions away working for Russian interests intent on re-taking Ukraine. Whereas the U.S. interest is solidly for Ukraine sovereignty and against Putin's hegemony.
Maybe Donnie didn't know that before he hired him as campaign manager.

BTW, that Mueller couldn’t Constitutionally indict a sitting president is total crap. It is purely a legal theory never ruled on by SCOTUS.
Let’s assume Mueller obtained an indictment of the president or a subpoena for the president to testify before a grand jury. Trump would be able to appeal the indictment or subpoena all the way to the Supreme Court.
The justices have never said whether the president can be indicted, nor whether the president can be subpoenaed for testimony. Only the Supreme Court can answer these constitutional questions definitively.

Mueller could have indicted for obstruction of justice and then let SCOTUS decide. He just didn’t have the evidence or the huevos to do it, so he created a false pretense to hide behind. Pretty cowardly for an ex-Marine war hero and all around stand up guy...

Robert Mueller Was Wrong - President Trump Can be Indicted
http://time.com/5574520/mueller-report- ... n-justice/
A central reason for the Mueller team’s failure to make that judgment,
despite the overwhelming evidence of obstruction they have reported, is two opinions rendered by the Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) — one from 1973 and another from 2000 — which say that the indictment of an incumbent President is “impermissible.” Mueller concluded that as an operative of the Department of Justice (DOJ), he was bound to follow that guideline, and he lateralled the decision to Congress.
No doubt others share your opinion that a sitting president doesn't have special status wrt prosecution. But that's why Barr got the job, and that's the mandate the Special Counsel said he was under. And yeah - that sucks. But even with an indictment Trump was likely going to get his remaining 500 days anyway.

President Donald Trump’s approval rating has taken a hit since the redacted Mueller report was released to the public on Thursday morning. According to a new poll by Reuters/Ipsos, Trump’s approval rating now stands at 37 percent, a 2019 low.
When asked if the Mueller report has changed their minds, 68 percent said they were more likely to believe that President Trump or someone close to him broke the law. That’s up from 49 percent in March.
----------------------------------------
So over 2/3rds of the country think their president is a crook. And since Trump lies about things big and small (and in-between), his claims of innocence aren't swaying anybody.

instead of initiating a trap with pizza boy and carter page maybe brannen/clapper/comey/Obama should have been paying attention to what Russia was doing from 2014-2016 in the social media and email arena

Here is actual audio of Adam Schiff attempting to collude with Russians to get dirt on Trump. The pencil neck was actually talking to a couple of Ukrainian pranksters posing as Russian agents on the radio. Funny how Schiff was doing the exact same think he was accusing Trump of, and calling it treason, except Schiff actually did it and Trump didn’t. I wonder why Muelller never investigated the pencil neck.

If you really believe that, it kinda put the lie to your claim that he had an itchy indictment trigger finger. But I realize you can't keep all your rants straight...

That planet you guys are living on - the one where Trump is in legal jeopardy - is that the same planet where the Mueller Report was going to prove Trump colluded with Russia and obstructed justice? That must be a real cool place, full of unicorns and magic gnomes and stuff.
Meanwhile, back here on earth, Comey, Clapper and Brennan are buying up all the soap-on-a-rope in the DC Metro area. Wonder why...

Comey, Clapper and Brennan, et al, will probably go to a camp, which is barely even a prison. Boy Scout Camp is more regimented. Camps are where cooperating snitches and white collar wienies go, emmiright?
But sure, if they ask for me, I’ll go, and come out of retirement to offer my humble and willing services.

Yep, you've always presented yourself on these boards as a true man of God. Humble, un-sarcastic, willing to forgive and always attempt to love the sinner. Yeah, right. You're likely the most un-godly man I've ever encountered, myself included. Congrats on that...
