They played some commercial after the game that had Cal speaking to his team and explaining how the name on the front of the jersey intimidates the opposing team….

Ouch

Let's end the bracket challenge now. First day results are way more important than picking the overall winner...

Well, as we know from The Wide World of Sports, the agony of defeat is major part of sports. Thanks, UK, for giving us such a visceral example of it. Now if Duke will lose sometime this weekend, all will be right with the world. I won't crow about UNC, we'll probably show up against Baylor like we did against Va Tech in the ACC tourny and get blown out by 20 (and yes, I do have UNC going to the FF in my bracket, but that's a pipe dream)...

15 seed beating the 2 seed is rare, but the only ones I really remember are Duke losing to Lehigh and Michigan State losing as a prohibitive favorite a few years ago. I can't even remember who beat them, but I remember thinking they were really good that year and probably should've been a 1 seed and that a bunch of people had them going to the FF if not winning it all...

Cal's contract has him switching over to being an "ambassador" to the program for $1m a year in 2024.

Since his buyout is absurd, he'll come back for one more year and then move to Nashville, quietly taking the $1m until he or the university decide its time to stop.

In the meantime here is what will happen - Kansas will pass us in all time wins unless they have to forfeit a season of games, Sharpe will declare pro without ever playing a single minute for UK and Cal will probably lose out Wagner to Louisville

We'll probably end up with Scott Drew or equally unappealing coach

10 actually, which is kinda surprising I guess. I had forgotten about Arizona losing in the 90's, I'm sure I had them going to the FF that year, they always fuck my bracket...

I guess I kinda remember Syracuse in 1991 since it was the first time it happened, but not really. Coppin State over South Carolina and Hampton over Iowa State didn't register at all, nor Norfolk St. over Mizzou even though that was 2012. I guess I also kinda remember Fla. Guff Coast over G'town in 2013 but not really...

That was Zona's only loss as a 2 seed to a 15 seed, but you're right, I feel like they've lost a bunch of first round games as a 3 or 4 seed and more than their share of 2nd round games as a 1 or 2 seed...

I know one year they had a guy with a hurt back and Olsen lied about it to protect his seed, then they went out got their ass kicked without him

not sure of the timing of it and what round but they killed some brackets

Lotsa first and second round exits for Zona as a high seed, esp in the 90's. Plenty more after 2000, but generally they weren't seeded very high in those games...
