Dear Jesus, please don't make fun of these faggots. They've never tasted pussy. It's not their fault.

not stirring up beef with anyone

I get that it's the commonly accepted theory

I just guessed that the same guy with balls enough to off his main character partway through the 1st book wouldn't offer up such a softball of a twist

Martin may change it if everyone is on to it just out of spite, but as it is now, that is clearly what he has in mind.

I'm far more interested in Howland Reeds first actual appearance rather than flashback or story. He has done a much better job of keeping him interesting and mysterious (even if everyone already knows the secret he has... unless Martin changes it for spite.) I do not know if he has shown up in person yet in the serious. I'm only about 1/3 of the way through Storm of Swords.

Also, just because Jon (Aegon) Snow's heritage is obvious doesn't mean there still isn't some interest there. I mean, if he is going to join him to Dany, he will need to find a way to get him out of his vows of the Night Watch, etc.

I don't recall anyone named Howland Reeds in the series yet but I've missed a lot on the first go through which I realized when I watched the 1st 2 episodes again last week. Ned was the one doing the beheading in the 1st episode and Bran was made to watch while in the last show Arya was forced to not watch as Ned was getting his head redone.

Its a story related in the "Game of Thrones" book. Ned recalls when Howland Reed was with him when they went to get Ned's sister from Rhaeger's tower during the war. It was Ned and Howland and 6 other Northmen vs. 3 of the Kingsguard. At the end, the only survivors were Ned and Howland. So he is the only one alive that knows what "promises" Ned made to his sister.

Y'all bitches ruined about 3 twists in the show (the last being whatever future Dany and Snow have...and thereby Khal Drogo). I think I may simply relegate myself only to the Seminole thread and leave this shit alone in here. TV-only peeps should just stay the fuck away from the book geeks.

So far in the books there is no Dany AND Snow so don't worry about it, just speculation. But I'll drop the speculation irregardless.

strictly fan speculation brook....

all of which is based off things Ned said/thought while he was alive

so... not really spoiling, since ned is done

This one guy in the comments section is a sharp fellow...
Some poor dads here certainly, but your Ned Stark contains such glaring inaccuracies(not differing interpretations) that I assume there is exagerration for comic effect going on. Well done.

I suppose the "season per book" thing is going to fall by the wayside pretty quickly for AGOT, what with the end of ACOK overlapping with the beginning of ASOS and AFFC overlapping pretty much completely with ADWD.

That is of course if the show doesn't get canceled anyway.

To me, this shows staying power depends on how many "non-read' viewers convert this summer & pickup the books

out of the "non-read" people I know, who are intrigued by the show, I'd guess that maybe 1/3 continue on reading the book

season 1 will end with a cliff hanger... so there will be suspense, a slow summer of tv viewing, an opportunity to kill your curiosity by going ahead and reading the series & inclusion into the to the discussions that have spoilers

that to me is a recipe for success, more word of mouth, more viewers & an opportunity to go from niche market to mass popularity

if the conversion doesnt really take place then I could see a cancellation by the end of season 2.

Let's face it, more magic wil be introduced, the world of Westeros will expand & this show will require a much larger budget

The show has accounted well for itself but once you read the source material there will be no going back

I've converted 2 guys at work

and there are a shitload of posters on another Toronto Raptors board I post on who are committed to start reading this summer... so the signs I've seen personally are positive
