Professor Tiger wrote: I knew Alice Johnson extremely well when I was a chaplain at Aliceville. She is a wonderful person. Nobody deserved clemency more. Tragically, her case is not unusual; draconian sentences for first time non-violent drug offenses, sentence "enhancements," mandatory minimum sentencing, and the big disparity between crack and powder cocaine sentencing, has made me disgusted with the what the whole "War on Drugs" devolved into. It's a national human tragedy. There are hundreds of thousands of Alice Johnsons out there.
Actually Alice was a death-dealer, a killer on equal with any mass-murderer or school shooter. And as such, she was certainly someone The Donald had in mind when advocating capital punishment for drug dealers.

The supposed racist and sexist Trump just commuted the ridiculous life sentence of a black female offender.
What did the second black president, a Democrat, do for her?
Johnson's plea for clemency was denied by President Obama weeks before he left office in 2017, despite an initiative aimed at freeing drug offenders serving long mandatory minimum sentences. Case files are not public, so it's unclear why Obama found her petition undeserving.

Your chronic whataboutisms notwithstanding, the pertinent story is the juxtapose of Donnie preaching death to drug dealers one day and making a big splash of kindness to a dealer the next. Wassup with that? It doesn't make sense. Crack kills, you said. Alice had her own crack cocaine cartel ffs. Talk about one extreme to the other..
Skeptics point to trump's comment about Kim K. and Kanye helping his numbers with blacks. Or the Bat-signal to russian co-conspirators. Or just the emperor-like high of waving one's hand and granting absolution (unfettered by rules, regs, or Congress). Or all the above. Skeptics being those outside the trump bubble, who study Donnie's motives with an admitted jaundiced eye.

You seem to be infatuated with that word, “whataboutism.” Since that word exists almost entirely in your mind, and maybe a few Alinsky-ites, it needs to be defined for everyone else, so that they know what you are talking about.
“Whataboutism” is a Latvian word which means,“Stop pointing it out when we liberals hypocritically attack conservatives for doing the same thing we liberals do, and usually far worse. It embarrasses us.”
You’re all welcome.

Presidents wait until the end of their time in office to issue pardons. Maybe Donnie sees the handwriting on the wall...and wants to do good while he still can.

Tick, you do have a point about Trump’s apparent charm offensive with blacks - Kanye, Kim, and now Alice Johnson.
Trump should kick that into high gear. He could order the DOJ (that is, if Mr. Magoo is still taking his calls), and order them to compile a list of all the federal inmates who fit Alice Johnson’s profile: first time non-violent drug offender serving absurdly long sentences because of mandatory minimum sentencing, in the 60’s or older, and ESPECIALLY black. Then, hand that list back and order them to draw up pardons for all of them.
That would demonstrate yet again that Democrats only talk about helping black people, but Trump is actually doing it. It would also cause widespread panic in the Democrat ranks, as they might face the real possibility of an uprising on their progressive plantation.

Hello, Republicans. My name is Chris L. Robinson and I want to help you with your minority outreach. Now, because I’m a progressive liberal, you might find it odd that I would want to assist you in your continuing efforts to destroy America by helping you secure black votes. But, confident that you are not sensible enough to listen to reason, I will now share with you over the course of several articles, a few tips you need to heed if you hope to make any inroads into the black community. And these tips are worth far more than what any black Republican with his hand out will tell you. So without further ado, let’s begin.
Don’t ever say the phrase “Democratic Plantation” again.
Black people voted Democrat with over 90% of the vote in 2008 and again in 2012. Black people have been voting majority Democrat for decades now. In fact, several white presidents have received HIGHER percentages than even President Obama. Maybe we are all fools, but for now, we support the Democratic Party. You gain nothing by telling over 90% of us that we are voting to be slaves. I know that such a sentiment goes over great at the local Republican committee meetings, but it is a deal killer for most black people.
I’ve never really understood the argument. Black people trade their votes to Democrats for the ability to sit home and collect government checks or something like that, right? But you know that doesn’t sound like slavery at all, right? I mean, first, you argue that black people just want to be taken care of and do nothing all day, except cast a couple of votes when the time comes. And in exchange, we get free food, housing, and health care. That’s insulting enough. But then you suggest that such an arrangement would be akin to the slavery of our ancestors. As though American chattel slavery consisted of slaves lolling around all day watching t.v. and waiting for the next election. The first claim is infuriating, the second, unforgivable. Now, I can see why you might say something like that, especially since you have black Republicans claiming that ex-slave and abolitionist Frederick Douglass ran away from “slavemaster-run healthcare”. But, black people tend to take talk like that seriously.
Now let me be clear--the black community has problems. And criticizing policies and cultural issues that hurt black people is fine, even necessary, but this “plantation mentality” thing is not the way to do it.

Speaking of Frederick Douglas, the president has heard 'good things" about him and how he's doing "a great job."
While on historical topics, Trump had a phone dust-up with Canadian PM Trudeau the other day - apparently Trudeau was in a snit about tariffs imposed on his country in part because Canada is a "security risk" to the U.S. The coup de grace came with Donnie's assertion that "Canadians burned down the White House during The War of 1812."
Fucking Canuks.

Democrat Plantation.
Democrat Plantation.
Democrat Plantation.
That’s an apt metaphor. Whenever a black person wanders off it, by failing to follow the ideological bidding of their vegan progressive overseers, and sometimes even have the uppityness to become Republicans, Marse gets mad, hunts them down and whips them until they get their mind right.
Just ask Clarence Thomas, Condy Rice, Allen Page, Herman Caine, Thomas Sowell, Alan Keyes, Kanye West, and many others.

It sad but not surprising that a white supremacist would be so dismissive of slavery.
