but it must be a shit year for recruiting if Chet Holgrem is the #1 prospect AND he chooses Gonzaga
Whole different story if he chose UK though.

If I was a coach I would just try and "recruit" high school kids to build relationships, but pretty much only truly try to sign sophomore transfers that played and had good seasons at smaller profile schools. You get to see them play college ball rather than high school/AAU and when they get to you they cant leave you in the dust without sitting out a year since they used up the free transfer.

And then you can call the coach of the school that your guy played at for one year and say "Yo nigga, what's happenin fool? You know the name of the game, your bitch chose me"...

UK player Terrance Clarke died in a car wreck yesterday in California - ran a red light, not wearing a seat belt

he announced he was going pro and only played in a handful of games, I'd be surprised if anyone outside UK fans even knew he was on the team

sad news, but admittedly if the kid wasn't a mercenary player for UK, I think UK fans would be much more affected by the tragedy. I can't even remember watching him play this year.

Yeah, when I first heard a “Terrence” that played for UK died, I immediately thought of Terrence Jones from the 2012 team.

I definitely remember Terrance Jones. I thought he'd have a better NBA career than he did. Not that it was bad at all, and in fact I was surprised to learn he's no longer in the league, based on his stats. His career avg. was 10.7 pts, 5.7 boards, there are plenty of people making a ton of money in the NBA with those numbers, I wonder why Jones decided to hang it up?

Well, this doesn't really explain why he's not in the NBA, but it sure makes me want to watch Philippino league basketball (video included in the story)...

Terrence Jones, who won a national championship at Kentucky and played for three NBA teams over six seasons, was involved in one of the most bizarre on-court altercations you'll see during a Philippine Basketball Association game over the weekend.

The incident occurred when Jones, who plays for TNT Katropa, was knocked to the ground in the fourth quarter by Calvin Abueva, who plays for the Phoenix Fuel Masters. Jones retaliated with a low blow and an elbow to the chin, and he proceeded to dance to the music playing in the arena as Abueva shook it off.

On the next play, Jones grabbed a defensive rebound and was met with a blindsided clothesline from Abueva, knocking him out of bounds and to the ground. Jones bounced up and went at Abueva, but teammates and officials intervened before the incident could escalate any further. Then, just like Jones, Abueva danced along to the arena music before he was ejected.

Jones stomped a homeless person and I think was videotaped laughing about it

that didn't help his reputation much

Here's a more detailed breakdown of the incident, by delighted Philippino commentators. The first guy kinda reminds me of Aziz Ansari...

Aziz referenced his favorite basketball brawl, some incident b/w the Philippine national team and the Australians. Here it is...

I had forgotten that Jones actually came back for his sophomore year at UK, and that was after averaging 16 pts. and 9 boards a game as a freshman. That would never happen today. I can hardly believe it happened then...

he originally committed to Washington during his signing announcement, then called Cal afterwards and said he made a mistake.

him coming back was instrumental to that 2012 championship

something that I think people realize now will never happen with Cal given the current culture at UK

Australia should declare war on the Philippines.

I went with my son at lunch today to get fitted for a Tuxedo for a wedding. His friend put down some money on the package, I'm not sure how much but his cost for the rental was $247.00

It would be more cost effective to buy a tuxedo at that rate

How often do you wear one?

me personally, I haven't wore one in 15 years at least

but if I was 20 something like my son, I'd probably wear one at least once every 2 years for awhile. I guess the challenge is that it would mostly be weddings and they'd want you to match the other groomsman.

Speaking of suits, I picked up a nice Hart Shaffner and Marx the other day. Its really it worth it to pick up a nice suit , can't say I wear them frequently but I'm tired of this frumpy pandemic look. I want to start dressing nice again. H,S & M is at a price point I can tolerate. I can't afford the really good stuff.

Nordstrom Rack. I've got a couple of Armanin suits, more nice dress shoes than I'll ever wear, plenty of designer sports coats, etc, all for at least half price and mostly at 70+% off. We got a Brooks Brothers outlet about 25 miles down the road too on I-95, same deal. Probably haven't worn most of the stuff more than a few times each, but at 75% off, why not have something nice?

I will never wear a suit. Don't own one. Never needed one. Don't want one. I still don't understand why people wear ties.
