With IU getting Woodson along with Matta and the future head coach in Dane Fife, I feel a little more confident that the current AD knows what the hell he is doing.

Start at the 5:20 mark and watch for 2 minutes. I really don't think many programs have the opportunity to get this type of guy...

I dont understand the sudden obsession with hiring coaches who were former players at the school that seems to be the new fad.

its a feel good story

I hope he does well, the odds seem pretty high against it at the moment.

based on that story, this guy is going to be severely crushed for the rest of his life if it doesn't work out.

In this case, a former player who has been on the staff for close to a decade. I don't think Hubie will be crushed if it doesn't work out. This isn't going to be Doh Part 2, Hubie isn't going to come in like a bull in a china shop and try to rearrange everything including in the basketball offices. I'm sure he'll retain some of the current staff and also make some new hires, that's to be expected. But I honestly believe if he just doesn't have the coaching chops he'll admit it and resign with no hard feelings on either side. But I think he'll be fine...

I didn't think guys that were the head coaches at a place like UNC ever admitted it wasn't working out and went quietly into the night

and this is a guy since his Senior year of High School has lived and breathed Chapel Hill.

He is replacing a guy that won 3 national championships , averaging what 1 about every 7 years?

I think living with the idea that he failed UNC in some way is going to be tough.

Well, except for Doh , we haven't really had a coach for whom it wasn't working out. And anyway, he knows that comes with the job. I'm just saying that if he's not able to get the job done on the court, I think he cares about the program enough to admit it and move on. I might be wrong about that, but I could certainly see that happening. I think he's going to be fine though...

Since his senior year of high school? Sheeeeiiiittttt. His uncle is Walter Davis. This man has lived and breathed Carolina basketball for his entire life. That part makes me happy but also scares the living hell out of me because he needs to be able to be detached enough to avoid the emotional peaks and valleys.

my son just informed me that you can Door Dash condoms

I don't know, maybe you just want the delivery guy to know you're getting laid?

We just went to Walgreens and bought them with gum and a 12 pack back in my day.

or paid 50 cents for one at the night club if you really wanted to roll the dice on fatherhood and syphilis

Rumor on IC is that Hubert is looking to bring Jeff Lebo onto his staff. He was in school the same time I was and lives next door to the guy I work for. They're pretty tight, I've hung out with him a bunch down at the beach and in Greenville. Hope this happens, should mean an upgrade in my buddy's season tickets and will give me absolute power with insider status...

Huba will smell your kind a mile away and have you relegated to the upper level.

Looks like Hubert is bringing back the late 80s crew — Jeff Lebo and King Rice — plus Sean May.

Hedge — Lebo graduated with me in 1989. This makes me feel old to see the guys on the team when I was there leading the Program. But it’s also kinda cool.

Lebo had a promising coaching future, and he is a good coach. However, he made the horrible decision of going to Auburn at a time when Auburn refused to give the program the support a major hoops program needs. That killed his career, and then he took the ECU job to be close to his wife's family and because I doubt there was much demand for him at the high major level after the Auburn disaster. Lebo had ECU playing some competitive basketball for a while, but that school cares as much about basketball as Auburn did pre-Pearl. So, that didn't work out long term, but I think he would be a major asset on the Carolina staff.
