I will say that if the media keeps making Michael Brown comparisons they are doing a disservice and risk pissing off a large part of the public that have empathy on this last incident.

did you see they have surveillance video released of the Arbery going inside a house under construction, then leaving when he sees someone calling 911 on him?

Who knows what's the truth anymore, but I've seen articles saying there had been no reports of any burglaries in that neighborhood anytime recently. Irregardless, if some lawyer can convince a jury that these two neighborhood civilian policemen didn't have reasonable probable cause to approach this guy with shotguns and attempt a citizen's arrest, there will be no "self-defense" defense. They're going to say this was tantamount to kidnapping, which is a felony, and you kill somebody while in the process of committing a felony against that person, you can't claim self-defense. On another note, have you seen the mugshots of these two clowns who killed the guy? They should be executed just for looking like that...

Same. And the owners said they didn't care.

I do too. It's what people in the neighborhood do when a house is being built. They're curious. All the prosecution has to do is show that other neighbors walk through the house and the father/son did nothing to stop them. Now, if they show him walking out with a bunch of copper wire then they have cause.

Someone needs to be told the parable of the Good Samaritan and what the story means.

I see people do it all of the time.
If someone does a tear down and new build in our neighborhood, folks will walk through that house to look around during daytime walks.

in the age of stealing copper and scrap metal?
Apparently none of you live in a town like Brunswick Georgia
With a crime rate of 65 per one thousand residents, Brunswick has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. One's chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 15.

It’s not like people are living there. If there’s copper wire and such, why doesn’t the builder lock the door?

New dwelling constructions are literally an open house - I go in them all the time. Builders know people are curious about their workmanship - they put out their own business signs, not "no trespassing" signs. Plus they have builder's risk insurance for all their materials.

Admittedly, back in the day, we used to steal all sorts of stuff (mostly lumber) to build camps in the woods, and that was wrong. But me and the MIF walk into houses being built all the time to check them out. Ditto houses old houses being renovated. Just this weekend, we walked up to one house that we've been monitoring for a couple of months (it's a slow renovation) and I checked the window and it was open (low window on the front porch, just had to step thru it) and the MIF kinda demurred on that (plus we had the dogs with us). She said something like "that's trespassing," and I was like "we've been trespassing on this property for months and you're trespassing now just standing on the porch." But in eCat's defense, the MIF did seem to draw the line at actually opening a window and going inside. But if it's just the frame of a new house or even with the walls up but no doors or windows, she'll go in...
