Rubio does, indeed, rock. He's like a younger, much thinner, Hispanic Chris Christie. I mean that as a tremendous compliment.

I hear lots of outrage from teabaggers this morning, all of whom seem to think the Republican leadership failed miserably because the Tea Party didn't get 100% of what it wanted. If they'd only talked tougher and made more threats, surely the Dems would have caved and given them anything they desired.

At a press conference held by the House "Out of Poverty Caucus", Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich) lambasted President Obama and called for people to march on the White House.

Conyers says, "We’ve got to educate the American people at the same time we educate the President of the United States.

Looks like outrage from both sides......good.

No, not good. Kick the can down the road. Even if you raised taxes you still need to cut $600 billion a year in expenses to balance the budget....

We are Greece.

How is this Constitutional???
The next round of $1.5 trillion in cuts would be decided by a committee of 12 lawmakers evenly divided between the two parties and two chambers. This so-called super Congress would have to present its cuts by Thanksgiving, and the rest of Congress could not amend or filibuster the recommendations

This deal reduces something like $8 billion the first year, and $12 billion the second year. That's less than congressmen spend on their mistresses.

And even those "cuts" are merely slower growth in the rate of spending increases, not real cuts as that term is understood by everybody outside Washington.

This "deal" is a joke in terms of actual fiscal responsibility. It just means that we will become Greece 9 years from now instead of 10 years from now. Yipee.

A commission by the President already went through figuring out what we need to do to balance the budget. Paul Ryan's plan is similar to theirs. Unfortunately, no one likes their answers, including the President. I guess we're waiting for fuckin' unicorns stuffed with billion dollar bills to come in and cover our deficit...

When we become Greece, I may end up using my dual-citizenship and moving to Ireland, where they are more fiscally sound than we are are here.

Except for the fact that the wild geese that moved back to Ireland during the boom there in the last decade are already moving back to the US or other countries due to their economy being back in the shitter.

In other words, after a once-per-millennium aberration, the Irish economy is back to normal.

At least their real estate will be cheap again. Even Dublin property is no longer as expensive as New York, like it used to be. An American retiree can live well there.

If I need heart or hip joint surgery, I'll have it done in whichever country is cheaper and/or has the shortest waiting period.

innocentbystander will appreciate this:

Today, after all the negotiations are done, and both houses of Congress are voting on the biggest piece of legislation in decades, which will affect the economic future of our children, Mitt Romney now finally feels safe enough to offer his opinion on it.

Yes, the presumptive front Republican runner has checked his polls, his focus groups, his contributors, and has apparently determined that he is more likely to be elected president if he opposes the budget deal than if he supports it. So, he opposes it. I guess Mitt didn't want to get his perfectly coiffed hair mussed up by actually taking a public stand on the biggest issue facing the country until it was 100% safe to do so.

I assume that, if the polls shift, and the budget deal becomes slightly more popular in the coming days, then Mitt retains the prerogative to support the budget deal if that's what it takes to get elected.

Well, you can either have Romney and his magic underwear or Bachman and her gay husband.
