I watched a video with the head of the Swedish healthcare system, he basically just shrugged his shoulders and said shit happens. Said it was going to kill mostly old, sick people in nursing homes, but what are you going to do? That's Nordic fatalism for you, just accept it and move on. He said the only reason people are freaking out over CV is b/c it's new, said that we have been dealing with a similar number of deaths from flu since, well, forever, and we just accept it without a second thought. He did say you needed to try and quarantine the at risk populations as best you could, but everybody else just needs to get on with it...

I really believe after this is over - really over, like March of next year, people will look back and say we over reacted

and that isn't necessarily bad, it just better prepares us for this should it happen again in another form.

At this point I don't think there is any arguing the models predicting hundreds of thousands dead in the U.S. were wrong, and not just a little off but way off. You can't use the excuse that stay at home measures prevented hundred of thousands of deaths. The emergency hospitals, navy ships, etc went virtually unused.

Had Trump stayed true with being reluctant to promote shutting this country down and shaming governors who jumped on that bandwagon versus keeping business open while implementing safe distancing measures, he'd be considered a visionary when it comes to handling this crisis. I'm not saying he had a clear vision, he was all over the place, but had he stayed with his gut instinct he would have been proven right.

But I still see people out there on the internet talking about how the deaths of people will be on politicians hands for opening the country up too soon - which I think now is misguided nonsense.

I don't blame anyone for living in fear when this first started - hell, how could you not, but at this point we enough knowledge in place to address living with this virus and still going about our daily lives versus living in solitary confinement at home.

I think the people that are throwing a fit about opening the world back up are 1. people who are collecting the $600 a week unemployment or 2. people that are lucky enough to have kept their jobs and are able to work at home without any concerns about paying the mortgage or buying groceries.

Most everyone else I believe is at a point where they have decided its time to get this going back. Yes, there are still hotspots, and that needs to be addressed individually, but not collectively - not even within a state. Why does Alexandria Bay , New York have to live with the same rules of confinement as Brooklyn? At this point its essentially punitive.

GET OFF OF MY LAWN!

(Um, Grandpa, we put in field turf 5 years ago so you wouldn't have to cut it anymore with that push along blade thing. We hoped it would save you hours in the basement sharpening the blades)

And also Grandpa, will I ever be allowed downstairs?

I have been a meth addict, I have known meth addicts, and I can assure you Trump is a meth addict. Bad. I'm not kidding...

It might be legal meth (certainly it is), Adderall or Ritalin, but it's all amphetamines, i.e., meth. In fact, the pharmaceutical stuff, which is what Trump is taking, all day, daily, is probably stronger than street meth

As someone who is prescribed aderall and has been for quite some time, I suspect that they’re feeding him 60-80 mg per day. There are folks who crack out on it. I saw it a lot in law school, and he’s acting like it....

The one thing I don't understand is, every speed jag I've ever been on, I can't eat a bite of food. And yet Trump is borderline obese and now DS says he's got a prescription for Aderall, and well, DS hasn't missed many meals from what I can tell. And by many, I mean any...
