This is also could be the end of the current two party conservative/progessive paradigm as it has existed for 30-40 years or whatever. Both sides are already being pressured to move in drastic ways over the last 4 years. The 2024 electoral map could be way different than the standard we've been used to since the mid 90s.

.....and if the Democrats, God forbid, gain control of the White House in November with their extreme liberal agenda of open borders and hatred of police, the US will be in total chaos in a few years. People had better stock up on ammo. They're gonna need it.

BTW, was watching a program last night on Nat Geo about survivalists. Had a story about this woman in South Carolina who was teaching her family and her entire neighborhood about the reality of another pandemic. Showed how to disinfect and quarantine and preserve food and have clean water. Interview took place several years ago after the H1N1 virus. She was predicting another one in the coming years....and boy was she correct. Had another story about this redneck family in the hills of western Virginia. Lady was a Hatfield and an ancestor of the Hatfield/McCoy feud. She and her boyfriend had enough ammo to hold off a good size army and was showing the many weapons they had if the government came and took their guns.

Remains to be seen if it was a good PR move or not, but Shake Shack returned their 20 million, saying it should go to small businesses instead.

People have social distanced here and the results have been good. But at the end of the month our governor is going to bend and open the state back up (except for schools). Without enough testing and a vaccine, I just see us going back to square one - without the stay-at-home. Later the curve spikes again and we have to have another lockdown. Maybe this re-open & close scenario plays out two or three times before a vaccine is found.

There may be no good options, but I'm confident of one thing: me and my family are safer today than we'll be on May 1st.

Eh, look at the bright side... by next May 1 you'll be living in a wasteland of foreclosed homes and empty boarded up commercial buildings regardless of how safe your governor makes you on this May 1.

"“Every person who leaves the hospital is a win and celebrated by our staff. We play ‘Here Comes the Sun’ over the loudspeaker each time. Today we heard the beloved Beatles song a lot, sounding sweeter each time. Including for 80+ year old Rita shown here.”"

They should've played Lovely Rita, Meter Maid...

How sure are you about that? They put out a note saying they won't respond to those months ago.
I was watching WLWT who reported it
They also had Jerry Springer as thier head anchor for over a decade.

aTm wrote: Mon Apr 20, 2020 11:10 am People dont yet understand how bad this is going to be. The majority of the country thinks you can just flip a switch and go back to normal. The cascading economic effects of this are going last for years. This will almost certainly lead to what will be classified as a major depression and IMO there will likely be a period of civil unrest of some sort.
Look at the kid trying to act adultish.

I feel you, bluetick (also, Roll Tide).

We handed out over 2 trillion dollars a month ago. That is about 10% of the US economy for an entire normal year. If we hand out another $2 trillion, it will be about 50% of the 2020 economy. Unemployment and social program funds cannot remain solvent while their rosters increase by 1000% and while businesses fail. Especially, when combined with much less going in to replenish the various funds in the form of payroll taxes; it will bankrupt us. We will print money which will devalue the US dollar - meaning we will need to pay more out and then print more...well, you know the drill.

We have a finite number of days that we can continue this. And as the economy gets worse, that finite number gets smaller and smaller before a hard decision has to be made. There isn't a good answer, but we cannot remain shuttered that much longer.

Crossed the hell out of it. May futures traded -$40 a barrel at one point this afternoon, currently have rallied back to a mere -$13...
