We went diving with a guy from China who has been living in NYC for 30+ years, he still speaks stiltedly, which was amusing, but clearly understands english perfectly. He said he has lived in Ireland for a year before he moved to NYC, he thought I was from Ireland when he heard my deep redneck accent, although I like to flatter myself that there is a measure of a more mellifluous, Faulkneresque timbre lurking in there somewhere...

And goddamn, you're talking about me, tick and Cletus being MIA, there has been barely one page worth of posts on this shithole thread since I've been gone, with well over 50% of that space being occupied by your posting of what appeared to be the entire Wiley Coyote oeuvre...

In your absence, the action moved to the alternative political discussion platform - the Florida State thread.

But since you're all here, I have a diagnostic test:

"There was a dossier, created out of thin air by an oppo researcher hostile to Trump, paid for by the Hillary and the DNC, through several intermediaries to cover her tracks, that was used by top officials at Obama's FBI/DOJ, who knew the dossier's fictitious nature, yet it was used to secure a FISA warrant to spy on the presidential campaign of the opposing party of Obama. I think this is ____________."

Circle all that apply:

- Not true
- Illegal and the participants should be prosecuted
- No big deal
- Necessary to get rid of Trump and therefore justified

Prof, I will address your quiz if you will first decipher the following:

WASHINGTON — Representative Trey Gowdy is known on Capitol Hill as a tough investigator of Democrats and a fierce Republican partisan. He is also the only Republican on the House Intelligence Committee to have read all of the sensitive intelligence underlying a contested Republican memo on the origins of the F.B.I.’s Russia investigation.

So when Mr. Gowdy, a South Carolina Republican, emerged as a strong voice contradicting President Trump’s contention that the memo “totally vindicates” him, his words had particular meaning.

“I actually don’t think it has any impact on the Russia probe,” Mr. Gowdy said Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

Mr. Gowdy is not alone. At least four other Republicans — Representatives Brad Wenstrup of Ohio, Chris Stewart of Utah, Will Hurd of Texas and Peter T. King of New York — have said they do not believe that the memo necessarily exonerates the president on the question of whether his campaign colluded with Russia to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.

Again, I've been away and you know the in's and out's of all this stuff. Thanks in advance for your in-good-faith reply.

We did St. Augustine on our own for two days, then took a RCL boat to Mexico and Cuba. For the latter, special visas required as well as State Dept. waivers (they are commies, after all).

Side note: RCL brought a 1990 ship out of mothballs and refurbished it because Cuban ports can't handle big ships. We docked opposite a destroyer that looked like it served in WWII (fully operational, though).

Here ya go:

1. Trump is looking at this like a guy who was unfairly accused of a crime he did not commit. He's furious it went this far, and wants it all to stop yesterday. He also wants the crooked cops who violated laws in their attempted coups him to be punished ASAP. I get that.

2. Gowdy is a lawyer who respects the system and wants it to play out. As a career prosecutor, I'm sure he has been involved in cases like this, where the investigators were were found to be dirty (planted evidence, tampered with witnesses, falsified documents) just like the FBI/DOJ leaders just got caught doing. To Gowdy's way of thinking, the legal system’s immune system can be counted on to kick in and provide a fair and impartial judge will track down every bit of evidence that was gathered illegally, throw it out, and proceed with what's left (in this case, the drunken bragging of the Coffee Boy to an Australian diplomat in a London pub). I get that too.

I understand Trump's emotions about what they did to him, but I agree with Gowdy's way of thinking. The best possible outcome is for the whole Trump-Russia collusion to continue on its present Hindenburg trajectory - right up until the midterms. It will be a grand day when Lurch is forced to stand before the cameras and admit that after all these years and millions of dollars, there is no proof that Trump ever colluded with the Russians.

Grand indeed.

See, I don't get that. You disparage Mueller..a republican..appointed by a republican who was in turn appointed by Trump..for doing his job. The longest serving FBI director (two stints) other than some guy named Hoover. Marine, Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. US Attorney, US Deputy AG in charge of the Criminal Division, lists of accolades a mile long. A real-life American hero in every sense of the word.

No bone spurs, no porn stars, no pussy-grabbing, no egomania, no prevaricating...could you imagine any two people being more different? Man alive.............I can't. Bet you can't either.

Speaking of the upcoming mid-terms..

Democrats have just pulled of their second upset of 2018. A Republican legislative seat in Missouri flipped from red to blue on Tuesday night as Democrat Mike Revis won House District 97. This district went heavily for Trump, giving him a 61-33 margin in 2016.

This seat had been in GOP hands for at least eight years, but on Tuesday, Revis captured it with a 52-48 victory—a massive 31-point swing from the 2016 presidential results.

Tuesday’s win in Missouri is far from the first Democratic flip in a red state this cycle, though. In 2017, Democrats picked up four seats in special elections in Oklahoma and another in Georgia. And just a couple of weeks ago, Democrats flipped a historically Republican seat in Wisconsin.

Overall, this victory is Democrats’ 35th red-to-blue state legislative flip this cycle, compared to just four for Republicans. The GOP’s ongoing inability to hold on to formerly safe seats is terrible news for the party in November’s elections at every level of the ballot. The reckoning is here, and no Republican is safe.

Mueller is a Republican like John McCain is a Republican. Like Arnold Schwartznegger is a Republican. Like Mayor Bloomberg is a Republican. Like Bill Kristol and the Weekly Standard are Republican. Mueller's party affiliation is meaningless as a measure of his fairness and impartiality. What IS a very good indicator of his fairness and impartiality is the staff he surrounded himself with. Starting with the two lovebirds on his staff who texted their hatred for Trump so frequently (50,000 texts and counting) that one wonders how they found time to do their jobs. A fair investigative teamwouldn't be staffed entirely by Clinton retreads like Mueller's was.

Speaking of which Mueller staff appointees that wreak of partisanship, here is an extra credit question as a follow-up to the first diagnostic question you haven't answered yet:

"Mueller's investigative team included a lawyer - Bruce Oher - whose wife worked for Fusion GPS that put together the Pee Pee dossier he was investigating. Bruce Oher did not disclose this arrangement. In fact, this same Bruce Oher visited the president of Fusion GPS outside the scope of his duties and failed to disclose this as well. I think this ________."

Circle all that apply:
- Isn't true
- Should be criminally prosecuted
- Is no big deal
- Really happened but it was done with the good intention of getting rid of Trump and is therefore justified

Speaking of the upcoming mid-terms.. The reckoning is here, and no Republican is safe.
The midterms are the single best reason why the Republicans should let the whole Russia-Trump collusion fraud continue, right up until the voting starts. Maybe longer. In fact, the longer the better. The Nunez memo has and will generate all kinds of subsequent investigations and stories that will cause great rueage (tip of the hat to whoever coined that phrase) to the Democrats they ever opened that can of worms. From here on out, the mighty Democrat-MSM complex will have to deal with a wide array of potential PR disasters. Here are some delicious possible developments in the hitherto Trump-Russia investigation:

- Trump declassifies the FISA application and it is published for the whole world to see. We get to see the signatures of all the Deep State operatives who submitted that piece of oppo research, paid for by the Hillary campaign, which they knew was total BS, but misrepresented it as real intelligence to a FISA court, repeatedly, which enabled a Democrat president to spy on the campaign of a Republican presidential candidate. Signatories with names like Comey, Rosentein, Mccabe, Wray, Lynch, and Clapper will have that giant steaming turd placed around their necks for the rest of their careers and future legacies.

- Carter Page sues the DOJ and the FBI, and in in particular, Comey, Rosentein, Mccabe, Wray, Lynch, and Clapper, for violating his civil rights by invading his privacy and spying on him using improperly obtained FISA warrant. This trial gets a ton of press coverage. The case ends with a huge cash settlement.

- The FISA judge that Comey, Wray, Rosentein, Mccabe, Lynch, and Clapper lied to holds these liars in contempt and they get perp-walked on tv until they make bail. Wray and Rosenstein go back to their jobs in the Hoover building, and get ready to spend the rest of their miserable careers fighting hard just to stay out of jail.

- Trump appoints a Special Prosecutor to investigate Comey, Wray, Rosentein, Mccabe, Lynch, and Clapper. That Special Prosecutor will be a fine specimen of legal probity. Clean cut, All-American, brilliant lawyer, respected by all. His name is Trey Gowdy, newly resigned from the House, and with a lot of free time to devote to his duties. His staff includes such impartial investigators like Joe Arpaio, David Clarke, Laura Ingraham, Kimberly Guilfoyle, et al.

- Comey has to testify under oath why he told Congress under oath that the Pee Pee dossier was "unsubstantiated and salacious" yet he used it to spy on Trump's campaign. Wall to wall coverage.

- Manafort, Flynn and the Coffee Boy appeal their indictments based on the improperly obtained FISA warrant. Of course they will have to prove their indictments were based on the FISA warrant - which would involve its own investigation and discovery, all in the public eye. Then they sue the DOJ and the FBI, and in particular, Comey, Rosentein, Mccabe, Wray, Lynch, and Clapper, for violating their civil rights by prosecuting them using improperly obtained FISA warrant. This trial gets even more press coverage than page, and ends with an even bigger settlement than Page got.

-A judge grants the appeal by Manafort, Flynn and the Coffee Boy, throws out their indictments because they were based on tainted evidence. Whatever they said to Mueller's team is also inadmissable. The Mueller investigation becomes a mime.

-A whole new territory that is just begging to be investigated, but hasn't, YET: "What did Obama know and when did he know it?" Comey, Rosentein, Mccabe, Wray, Lynch, and Clapper all worked for him. They were his "plumbers." Does anybody really believe that he didn't know what they were up to? Does anybody really believe that he had the authority to spy on the Trump campaign but didn't? Special Counsel interviews, Senate Committee hearings, documents subpeona'd, etc etc etc.

That is what the Trump-Russia collusion is about to become. There is plenty there to keep the Deep State cabal on the run, and on tv right up until the midterms. Plenty for the voters to consider when they pull the lever in the voting booth.

So far we know the FBI was investigating Page as far back as 2013, and Manafort back to '14, and that Papadopolous's comments to the Australians got the 2016 investigation ball rolling. Nunyas had his turn with the Steele dossier, now we await the part of the House intelligence that gives more context to how the FISA warrants were obtained. No doubt the WH will sign off on that any day now. With your full blessing.

So I'll wait a little longer to answer your rigged quiz.

Here’s a follow on question, a blast from the past: Has Lurch found any empirical evidence that Trump colluded with the Russians? It’s been a year and tens of millions of dollars since this scavenger hunt began. You’d think the Deep State coups cabal would have found SOMETHING perceptible to the human senses by now...

Obama knew about a major investigation involving the Trump campaign and Russians, yet he kept it to himself. Didn't want to influence the election, you see.

Wonder what Il Douche would have done in that situation?
