I saw Governor Whitmer being asked last night on NBC news if she'd accept the VP nomination from Biden as someone who defiantly stands against Donald Trump

Today this happened

Thanks to the wife opening a new business in 2018, we had a shitload of business expenses we could use. So, we received the full $2,400.00 stimulus. We filed an extension for 2019 taxes before the pandemic hit because we knew that due to having a great 2019, we were going to get hit hard, and we didn't want to stroke a big check to the state and feds at the same time as having a child.

Now, thanks to the PPP loan (if/when she receives it), the taxes are covered with some money left over (the PPP loan). So, when we add to that amount the stimulus funds, the EIDL advance and my old firm's AFLAC / hospital insurance paying out, we should have enough to cover any and all out of pocket expenses associated with the c-section and hospital stay along with the medical bills for her visits to the labor and delivery triage for two pre-eclampsia scares.

Thanks, Uncle Sam (and to some degree my previous employer and that fucking AFLAC duck)!

Im not 100% but I think the stimulus money is tied to 2020 income. It seems like its a 2020 tax credit you’ll have to claim next year. If you make too much this year without those expenses and that is the the case, then my understanding is that you’ll be paying it back. They are sending it out to folks based on 18-19 returns, but I am a little unclear if your income in those years actually qualifies you for it or not.

yea I've heard conflicting reports.

bunch of people going to be upset if it turns out this money is just an advance on next years tax refund.

It is its own tax credit, Im pretty sure of that, so most wont have to pay it back. Youll just have a tax credit of $1200 and already been paid the $1200 for a net of $0. However if in the end you qualify based on 2020 income, some could get a check automatically based on their 18 or 19 income and then make too much to qualify for it next year when the tax return is filed so they would owe $1200 more if thats how it worked

Last I read if they shorted you - you can receive the difference on next years tax return.

If they paid you too much you get to keep the extra - I will believe that when I see it.

Nothing like that valued Sycamore HS education. As a former educator, I feel the need to correct you, bud.

Your statement should have read "I don't need their handout.

.....there is a place

.....their is they possessive of they

.....they're is the contraction for they are

Let's try to do a better job next time Rat. You're embarrassing yourself.

every time I have voted - in Kentucky, TN , Alabama and Ohio, I have had to show an ID

I never knew it was possible to vote without one - and in Ohio they match my signature to the one on file.

if true, we'd have to take steps in this country to prevent this from ever happening again.

this is a great opportunity to leverage this threat into forcing the return of manufacturing from China or at a minimum look to other countries

it would do more than tariffs ever could hope to accomplish
