Major league baseball shouldn't have to change any rules for attendance due to covid, nobody goes to those games anyway and the few that do can space themselves 1000 feet apart. Seriously, baseball will be dead in 20 years. I can't believe that anybody under 30 (much less 20) is into baseball at all. The average age of their core audience has to be approaching 60 or better...
It seems like that, but its actually wildly popular in terms of the most important factor, total number of tickets sold. The total attendance for the professional sport including the minor leagues in the US and Canada is in the hundreds of millions, its actually kind of absurd. MLB is the most attended professional sports league in the world at 70 million fans through the turnstiles in a year and number two way down at 26 million fans. Also, that league that is #2 world? It is Nippon Professional Baseball.
The International League and Pacific Coast League (ie the two AAA minor league baseball) combined have total season attendances on almost the same level as the NFL or the English Premier League.

Yeah, that's why it's kind of subtly deceiving. You can watch a random Reds game and see the average 22k attendance and think the place is empty, but drawing 22k a night for 81 dates is a lot. That's more per game than every single NBA team and NBA teams have only 41 games. I mean economics like supply, demand, prices also play roles here, but a lot of people are going to a lot of baseball games on a consistent basis.
Number of teams can also matter. Japanese baseball actually outdraws MLB, but there's only 12 teams instead of 30 which is why MLB brings 70+ million through the turnstyles vs 26 million.

Whoops, forgot about you antiK, but in fairness, you mostly only post during hoops season and even then not very much. Do you post at IC?
Not much anymore. I mostly post on a private board where we can bitch about Roy’s recruiting and the pussification of Carolina Basketball. I’d get banned at IC in about 30 seconds with what I say about “POY” Brooks and Leaky Pussy.
Link?
I'm sick of the fluffers on IC.

Baseball is the only sport my wife will attend. As a spectator sport it’s pretty pedestrian. Doesn’t take total attention all the time like basketball so attendees can converse while play is going on...
...Did I mention I don’t go to baseball games?

The Covid was actually a godsend to the Hornets. After they traded Kemba, season ticket sales plummeted like GameStop stock. Start of last year, Hornets suck, no one is attending, and, bam, Covid closes the season. Selling tickets didn’t matter anyway. Take a year off of attendance acquire decent talent and nice sell for next year.

you know I'd pay $1000 to have a complete archive of when we all started posting going back to '96 and just relive all those years thru our interactions.
I suspect people in their 20's now will have that luxury, or burden depending on how you look at it for their entire lives.

Just scour the internet for Moulton/Barry Kort and/or klatu...I'm sure they still have all of the old worldcrossing forums archived and are about to bring it all back any day now.

klaatu has the mindset, if not the politics, of a large chunk of the current republican party. Him and the chinese guy who always talked about "false flag" events. What was his name? Kathaksung, or something like that. But he may have genuinely been schizophrenic, which, come to think of it, makes the comparison even more apt...

Im pretty sure kathaksung posts (or used to) on Sic'Em 365 which is a Baylor forum that Texags.com licenses their software to.

Its actually rather incredible the sheer number of forums that guy spreads his bullshit on if you search for various incarnations of his name.
