Happy with the Bearcats bowl, considering they weren't going to get the BCS slot. I consider Liberty to be on the tier just below the BCS bowls, along with the likes of the Cotton Bowl and the Sun Bowl and one or two others.

I'm not going strictly by cash payout. I'm going by "prestige". My definition being a mix of age of the bowl, quality of match-ups, and pay-out. Liberty is one of the oldest bowls (especially if you go by those that still use their original name in the title and not just a sponsors name only), has a good payout for a non-BCS game, and matches 2 BCS conference teams.

When UC was in C-USA, the Liberty Bowl was the prize for the conference winner. It was C-USA champion vs an SEC team. Sadly, though UC won a share of the C-USA title one year, they had sucked so bad early in the season that they were only .500 by the end of the season and one of the other co-champs (I think TCU) was selected for the Liberty Bowl. Kind of nice that the Bearcats are finally playing in the game and getting an SEC opponent.

True, they should have been in the Orange Bowl, but WVU finished higher in the BCS rankings, and thems the rules.
