As soon as Sarr’s jumper touched the net and rimmed out, I told the guys watching at the gym, “OK, Kentucky is officially us from last year.”

Opening line from an article on the UK/UL game:

"One-and-done doesn’t just describe Kentucky’s preferred variety of recruit right now; it also sums up their record."

Title of the article is "John Calipari fumes about schedule as Kentucky falls to 1-6 after loss to Louisville"

No one wants to hear about how hard the schedule is. Cal again tried to make it a big deal after a sixth straight loss, but no one is listening because Kentucky Basketball doesn’t get to cry about having to play Richmond and Georgia Tech and Notre Dame. The Louisville, UNC and Kansas games are played every year (the latter two as part of annual round-robin events), so Cal is beating himself up over scheduling Richmond and Notre Dame at home, and a neutral site game against lowly Georgia Tech.

This is Kentucky. You don’t complain about playing Richmond in Rupp Arena, and it’s embarrassing to everyone when he keeps trying to tell us how hard the competition is. Rather than crying, “it’s the stupidest schedule I’ve ever put together and I want to smack myself in the mouth,” please take some accountability for building a Kentucky team that can’t win games.

The Greatest Tradition™/College Basketball’s All-Time Winningest Program cannot cry difficult schedule for a 1-6 record.

Cal's lucky this is a pandemic season. You can write off everything that happens this season. But yeah, the UK brand is looking sort of dingy right now. Who would want to play there?

Evidently Cal doesn't have much interest in coaching there, judging from the product on the court...

Stu has a point about the Covid. If Kentucky falls down in Rupp is anyone there to see it? All sports suck this year.

Kerwin Walton drills three threes in a row — and Roy benches him. 19 and fucking 23 in our last 42 games...

Insert the Kung Fu gif here...”Grasshopper, it is time for you to go...”

The game has passed Roy by at this point. He is too stubborn and set in his ways. He has been wildly successful and has accomplished more than any other college coach during his time at Carolina, but the steady decline over the past few seasons show that Roy's refusal to change defensive and offensive strategies has stagnated this program in performance and recruiting. Truly elite players are eschewing Carolina more often than not, whereas Roy had his pick of elite talent for the first half of his tenure, and Roy was able to compensate by finding 3-4 year players who could be molded into very good college players that filled needs. Roy -- as a general rule -- has failed at the former for the second half of his decade (with some exceptions), and Roy has failed at the latter over the last few years. The recruiting issues have caused performance issues, and performance issues are affecting recruiting. We are in deep shit. I appreciate the fact that Roy did not sell his soul like K did and get completely wrapped up in the sneaker shit, but we now live in a universe in which Dook is markedly superior to Carolina in every fashion. I guess we are a football school now...

UK fans were like "see, UNC lost to Georgia Tech too!"

and Ii'm like yea, but we lost to UNC too, so STFU .

Here is the reality that UNC and UK fans have to embrace - you're lucky if there is 1, but certainly no more than 3 elite players in any class and chances are those guys are going straight to the G-League for the $150K guaranteed salary.

You need a coach that is going to be able to develop players over time and whether you believe Roy needs to change or not, the one thing he has going for him is his ability to develop a talented kid over the course of 3-4 years and convince him to wear a UNC uniform.

and I don't think K is any more ahead of Roy who has 2 national championships in 11 years for gods sake and lost on a last second shot in another one than he was 5 years ago.

K has sold his soul for the one and done but it hasn't paid off. Honestly I'd rather have a cycle of build a good team over time - the last 2 of Roy's titles, his team went to the final four the year before - that shows you Roy can build a team and develop players like Roy than Coach K trying to emulate Kentucky.

Williams and Wright have shown that it takes stars to win, but there is no quick route to a championship by putting all your eggs in a Zion Williamson.
