This is insane."

President Trump received a rare compliment from Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar over actions his administration has taken in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Politics aside, this is incredible and the right response in this critical time,” Omar, a staunch critic of Trump, tweeted Wednesday.

Among the proposals to mitigate the economic fallout of the pandemic, Trump is considering sending checks to millions of Americans as early as April.

He said earlier Wednesday that the Department of Housing and Urban Development will suspend foreclosures and evictions for mortgages insured by the Federal Housing Administration until the end of April. The Federal Housing Finance Agency also ordered Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to suspend foreclosures and evictions for any single-family mortgages for “at least 60 days.”

The president also invoked the Defense Production Act, which gives the government more power to steer production by private companies to try to overcome shortages in masks, ventilators, and other supplies.

“We should never let politics get in the way of good policy,” Omar said.

3/4 of the guns bought in the last 3 days were bought by first time gun owners.

Lots of speculation at the moment - so much so that Trump has mentioned it - an anti-malaria drug that has been around forever and is cheap has the ability to mitigate the long term effects of the virus and lessen the time of those contagious with it.

CHLOROQUINE may provide some hope to contain this faster than we anticipated.

Burr laid out what was going to happen back on February 27th.

From his remarks it sounds like Trump knew what would happen as well

So you're saying he lied to the American public? Or his dementia made him forget? Awesome.

I wouldn't doubt that he was warned about what was coming, but like Prof, he is disdainful of experts and was more than glad to risk everything (that being, in this case, the health and well-being of the American public at large) on the hope that nothing would happen, either based on his "gut feeling" (as he himself said) or simply b/c he didn't want it to happen b/c he knew it would fuck with the stock market (which his whole ego is based on), and so rather than face a real problem head-on, he chose to ignore it in the hope that it would just go away, "like a miracle". There is zero chance that he thought to himself "I understand that this is going to be a serious problem, but I think the best way to help the American people is to stay calm and hope that if they see me staying calm, they will too." Absolutely zero chance that anything approaching that scenario happened...

you two just don't think long term.
I doubt Trump fully understood the ramifications but I'm certain he was pulled aside and a consensus was formed that he isn't going to tell the American public that the potential for 1.5 million people will die in the next 6 months

If you think that was ever on the table or is something he should hte lead with, then I don't know what to tell you

So we shouldn't expect our President to tell us the truth and instead allowing us to get infected instead of making DeWine rules from the start? Um. Ok.
