The premise of this joke is fantastic. I will be laughing over "we've got it narrowed down to either Alzheimers or the AIDS, but we can't be sure which one it is" all day.
Welcome to the land of Obamacare!!!

Rob Ford Is Too Busy Eating His Wife's Pussy to Eat Staffer Pussy
I notice that one of the banner ads in here lately was for a North Carolina-based bank, one which I happen to track on Yahoo finance. I wonder if they are cross-referencing where people are visiting and targeting ads to those sites? Seems kinda random that a local bank would have a banner ad in here...

Of course it's tracked. Heck, I see queen city ads on this site.

The ads are driven by Google. Basically there several types that get displayed. Some ads are in the list to get displayed anywhere and everywhere and just show up as random ads. An advertiser could request that his ads get put on our pages (not likely). Or Google could look at a cached version of our pages and generate suitable ads based on keyword it finds. If you allow them to (just by doing normal things and having normal security settings and behavior), google will also generate ads tailored to your history. It looks at your cookies, it may see one from a particular bank website and display an ad for that bank. It also remembers what you've searched for in Google's search engines as well and can pull that up. I suspect that it also knows when you visit other sites that have google ads and therefore knows you've been there and also shows contextual ads based on keywords for those sites.
I'm in the middle of doing some home improvement stuff and so my ads on here are usually for things like Lumber Liquidators flooring, or Overstock.com. Its pretty sophisticated, it actually shows me ads for Lumber Liquidators that actually have pictures and names for quarter round and T-molding for my floor that I actually bought. Somehow it remembers me looking at those products when I was pricing them.

actually I don't get ads - I have adblock so I don't even know where they would be on here
I sold the camper - well actually bartered it for a septic tank. I'm going down this weekend to show them where to put it and meet with someone about building a small cabin onsite.

Well, just because you don't see the ads doesn't mean the ads don't see you here. They'll get you one way or the other.

I have noticed that stuff I look at on Amazon and NewEgg shows up at other sites I go to , which I don't mind really. If I'm gonna see ads, I might as well see stuff I'm interested in.

Yeah, my ads are largely based on some clothiers I visit online.
My firm's servers are located in Michigan, so sometimes I get local ads to that region when I'm at work. Also, YouTube will show local Michigan ads before some videos play for me.
