"people voting for Bernie don't give a damn where the money comes from"
Considering the debt that has been run up in this century, I'd say you could replace Bernie's name with anybody who has run for the presidency...
maybe, I think people voting conservative at least felt they were voting for the more fiscally responsible candidate and they were vocal about government spending.
The rub is though, what they were vocal about isn't really going to change anything - military, social security and medicare are the lions share of government spending and if you cut back any of them significantly it will be reflected in our economy and GDP.
Harping about food stamps or foreign aid is feel good, but in the big picture its not changing the budget in large numbers.

It sure looks look like the Establishment of the Democrat Party is trying to take Bernie (Peace be upon him) out.
I'm not sure who is in charge of the Democrat Establishment these days, but if it's still the Clintons, Bernie is in serious danger of committing suicide. If not in Arkansas or Ft.Marcie Park, then in his jail cell.

Bloomberg made a good point last night, no dems were complaining about him buying elections when he was pumping millions into the campaigns of dems running for congress. And I doubt any of the dem presidential candidates would refuse his money if he offered it to help them buy the election. The whole thing about criticizing him for trying to "buy" the election is just stupid, they're all trying to buy the election, they're just getting their purchase money from different sources. Bloomberg made his money, they're begging for it, but they're all planning to use it to get elected, i.e., "buy" the election. All politicians do it...

There are more than 5 states that would vote for Hitler if he ran as a Democrat.
