I was hoping DS would bring the favors and we could get all coked and tequilaed up before I have to pick up Jr. at noon

Heck if I know. I go there a few times per month for work or family related purposes. That's it.

Make it scotch, and I am sure we could make it happen....

I had a snifter of 15 year old Bowmore last night. I've been gravitating pretty heavily towards Islay scotches lately and so far have not regretted it one bit...

Cal is pissed about losing recent recruiting titles to K. He might not make the FF, but by god he's going to do everything he can to win that all-important recruiting title...

my wife has been bugging me about what I want for my birthday and she won't let it drop, and I'm really at a point where if I need something I buy it. So admittedly I'm a really difficult person to get anything for.
So I came up with what I thought was a novel idea and I told her instead of buying me something, get the boy and help me drywall the upstairs of my workshop so I can turn it into an office. The idea of lugging that drywall up narrow stairs has held me off doing it for years. I was going to do it labor day but this weekend was nice, highs in the 70's and ideal for doing that kind of work.
So I ask the boy to go with me to home depot to load drywall, he throws attitude at me so I end up yelling at him and remind him he doesn't do jack shit around the house for the entire trip to home depot, which was still going on as we walked into the store. I realized I looked like a complete ass yelling as we were going into the store so I toned it down but he was already in a mood with me so he throws the drywall onto the cart, we pay for it and then take it out to the trailer I had hooked up to the truck.
Same thing, he starts throwing the drywall onto the trailer only now he makes me drop it which throws his leverage off and pinches his finger between the steel rail and the drywall, and in his wisdom he gets more angry and punches the trailer as hard as he can, which as I mentioned before is steel. So my response was "are you a goddamned dumbass, why would you do that?". He doesn't hear me because he has dislocated his finger and before he can even get back into the truck, its swelled up to where it looks like a leg of a balloon animal. Now I'm pissed because I'm one helper down, but he is all disgruntled about the "you don't do jack shit around here" so we get home, he gets a bag of ice, duct tapes it to his hand and then tries to help me, which was probably the most absurd thing I saw all week.
So I eventually yell at him to go inside and stare at a wall or whatever, just stop busting my balls about his hand being hurt. So one helper down, now its me and the wife. and to her credit she tries. We start off with what I thought would be the easy stuff, hanging full sheets of drywall with no cutting. We carry them up together and decide I will hold the drywall in place while she puts in the drywall screws. Now I thought it would be self explanatory that while I'm holding a 77 pound sheet of drywall at a 45 degree angle above my head, two things should happen - you should be fast about putting the screws in and you should put screws in each end first to relieve the person holding the drywall.
Neither of which happened.
First she fills her pockets up with screws and she is wearing these yoga pants like thing so she is fumbling around trying to get them out. Next, by the time she gets the screw out, picks up the drill, lines it up with the stud and pushes it into the drywall, the piece has slipped - BECAUSE I"M HOLDING 77 POUNDS OVER MY DAMN HEAD FOR MORE THAN A MINUTE
so I let the first one slide but before we do the second one, I give her some friendly tips - like put 4 screws in your mouth (the added bonus of her not talking) so you can grab them quickly and not have to hold them in your hand when lining up the drywall and then put two screws in at one end, go around me and then put them in the other end so I am not dying here trying to hold this thing up
She must get her drywall hanging directions from a higher power than me because the second sheet was exactly like the first - and we had 14 more sheets to go.
To wrap this story up, I built a frame to hold the drywall and I did the last 10 by myself. By about 8pm last night she was talking to me again.
I'm getting some hiking boots for my birthday. And that was my weekend

I actually have a drywall lift but there wasn't enough room to maneuver it. The 2X4 frame I built worked well enough.
I do the mud , paint and flooring next weekend.
