Took a road trip to The Virginian last Friday for golf and got to spend the day with a newly-ex-UT receivers coach. I got a lot of dish on the state of the fball program.

There was this nugget: "nobody cusses like a Dooley. The old man could cuss a blue streak; and the apple didn't fall far from the tree wrt Derek. Saban has the reputation, but DD has him beat. Quality as well as quantity.."

Yeah - it may happen this year if/when we jump the tracks.

It's not that big a secret, but Cheney is going to a quick tempo offense a la Oregon. No huddle, short huddle - hurry to the line. The practices were closed and they kept it out of the O&W game, but the lid is pretty much off on that one.

First time I've heard it. Ordinarily, I'd be skeptical about instituting some kind of gimmicky new offense to solve problems that could be just as easily fixed with better players, more depth and improved fundamentals. But I find myself feeling optimistic about the direction Sunseri is taking the defense. If we can play at a high tempo and get after 'em on that side of the ball, a high tempo offense might be a great compliment. Add-in some improved special teams and...

Uh...sorry. Kind of got a little carried away there for a moment.

Put 100 bucks to win 110 that UT will be over 6.5 wins in the regular season.

LITW... They win one this season they're "not supposed to". Probably against the Gamecocks. Alabama should get them again this season on paper but...
