I wonder if there will ever be a time that I stop being surprised that people in the 21st century believe the Adam and Eve story is true?

You messed up the logic. Eve committed two sins. Adam committed one. Do not ever again (never-ever-again) refer to "The Fall" as a "fable" until you can properly define exactly what sins were committed by each. Until you get to that fundamental point, the rest of what you say is moot.

That "fable" may very well be the most important story in all of the Old Testament.

No, I never said that. I am saying that "The Fall" is important because it properly demonstrates female behavior as it demonstrates rebellion against ultimate authority. Men have committed many sins, many-many sins. And I don't excuse them. But I was talking about feminism and its root. And (ultimately), this 15 year old Beth, she acted out in a way which her actions were "empowered" by nothing more than the feminist imperative.
