What do you think will do him in, sardis? My money says the Russian business, but this emoluments thing is on the outside rail and charging towards the front.

Outside of the Fox bubble, ahem, there's a sense that the GOP leadership sees the handwriting on the wall. Yesterday McConnell gave no credence to the Trump Tower "tapp" claim and very pointedly said Mexico would not pay for "the wall." Several R's are up in arms over trumpcare. Then there's the tweet-storms as well as the crazy things the Cabinet people are saying about slavery and carbon dioxide. How much more can the party take?

Keep a watch on Pence. He's shying away from defending the lunacy, which makes him look presidential by default.

Today is a day of sorrow.

First, the Carolina Tar Heels (my adopted favorite cbb team) lost to the heinous dookies in the ACC tourney.

Second, I just learned that the founder of my beloved Waffle House, Joe Rogers, died at 97. In his honor, here are a couple of fitting tributes:

"If you live in a part of the country that doesn't have Waffle House; imagine a truck stop bathroom.... that sells waffles.

Most of Waffle House's business comes from drunks trying to sober up in the middle of the night before they go home. Just the other night I stopped by a Waffle House, looked around, and said, "Hey, this place looks familiar. I think I threw up in here once: LOOK! I DID!" - Jim Gaffigan

"If you've ever slow danced at a Waffle House, you might be a redneck." - Jeff Foxworthy

RIP Joe

The Waffle House was the only place where you could pick up the pork chop bone and chew on it. I like the Waffle House because the waitresses call you 'baby.' Any place that says 'how you doing, baby?' that's my place.

Lewis Grizzard. All his books occupy an honored place in my library.

Peace be upon him.

Just curious, in your "library" do you separate the books you've already colored in from the new ones?

Professor Tiger wrote:There are reports that Obama's DOJ asked for a FISA wiretap of Trump's staff.

To the surprise of no one outside the bubble, the WH is now downplaying the whole wiretapping thing on the DOJ's deadline day for producing evidence.. Since Trump used quotation marks around wiretap (in one tweet, but not in the others), he wasn't literally referring to wiretaps, according to his hapless press secretary. When pressed, Spicer argued that Trump DID NOT accuse Obama of literally wiretapping him in Trump Tower- the president was in essence being jocular.

This quotation mark issue may be a huge deal down the road. Trump can lie about millions of illegal voters or the size of his inauguration crowd without penalty, but here he accused his predecessor of a felony and that one's not going to be easily swept away.

These are the kinds of things that send Dem's running to their feinting couches, but won't affect "Trump's supporters" in the least.

Trumpsters will be as affected by Trump's routinely creative treatment of the truth as Dems were bothered by Hillary's whoppers about Benghazi, her homebrew server and classified documents, and the blatant international bribes that were laundered through her bogus family slush fund.

You speak as if you are disconnected from Trump's supporters, yet you defend him at every turn. And if the defense falls apart, you hide behind your Libertarian voting scheme.

Sad

I don't agree with him often but this is 100% accurate. The best examples are the Steve Martin and Justin Timberlake references.

hedge, I just did, even at the personal cost of earning the stripe of shame. You're welcome.

And Tick, I'll validate the great liberal hissy fit against Trump as soon as it develops substance. Eventually it will. It could happen tomorrow. But right now, the spectacle of watching Hillary supporters railing against Trump's lying is like watching Bill Clinton supporters railing against Trump for marital infidelity. The irony is quite rich.

BTW, did Rachel Maddow get played or what?

I am not mocking Waffle House, sir. I love that place. I eat there once a week. The waitress knows my name and calls me "hon" just like Lewis Grizzard (Peace be upon him) said 30 years ago.

Everything I said about WH was a compliment, and a part of my overall "You might be a redneck" brand of humor.

What happened to Rachel Maddow? She's one of the few MSNBC commentators I like. She is capable of smiling.
