I don't see us winning against Houston.

PJ gets the cast off today - and thats just to see if the swelling has gone down on his foot.

"Hey," said Code, according to his attorney, Mark Moore. "Between me and you, you know, he asked about some stuff. You know?"

Who is "he?" Zion Williamson's father, per Moore's courtroom account.

"I know what he's asking for," Code continued. "He's asking for opportunities from an occupational perspective, he's asking for cash in the pocket and he's asking for housing for him and his family."

If this was to follow the basics that played out over the past 2½ weeks here as the underground economy of college athletics was laid bare in a federal fraud trial, that meant a job (lucrative with little to no work), a lot of cash (six figures, minimum) and an apartment or house (rent-free, of course). If you've seen Zion play, you'd know that isn't a bad deal.

Which might be why Townsend sounded unfazed.

"I've got to just try to work and figure out a way because if that's what it takes to get him here for 10 months, we're going to have to do it some way," Townsend said.

-----------------

Daddy Zion wanted money, a job and a house for his kid to play at Kansas. Of course Duke had such an appealing pitch that he decided he could live without all that for Zion to be at Duke.

of course that's how it is.

That's interesting. Cal took over at UK the year UNC won the first of its two titles in the period displayed in your graphic. I see Duke and Villanova also won two titles during that time. Considering the fanfare and recruiting titles Cal has won at UK, you would just have to guess that UK had done at least as well as UNC, Duke and Villanova, in fact you would have to think they've done better. But no, there's just one little title to show for all that money spent on Cal, all that hype, all those recruiting titles. Even hated and mocked and disparaged little brother Louisville has managed to equal UK's title count during that time. And UK fans used to sass Dean Smith for not winning "more" with the talent he had. Who has had more talent (by far) in the past 10 years than UK? Nobody. And yet there's that lonely little one title. Tsk-tsk...

REally, UK and Cal should have 2 in that time and Dook should have just 1. Kentucky blew their title in 2015 vs. Wisconsin. there's no way dook beats UK in the final that year. And really, Dook's other title with Scheyer and all those other current NBA greats was predicated on every other good team losing in the NCAAs that year.

2015 had some sting

especially when you read Devin Booker dropped 59 points last night on the Jazz and Towns is averaging like 24/11 to close out the season.

I remember being relieved that UK lost that year, probably because I didn't want them to have the mantle of unbeaten national champions. In retrospect, I would have taken UK over Dook and I will this year. Of course, if UNC doesn't win it all, i'm hoping for UVA to do it.

I think I'm a little more partial to this UNC team than any in recent memory because of Coby White. It's pretty neat watching a kid that I've known since he was in 10th grade play at the level he's playing at for UNC. I figured he would be there for 3 or 4 years and now he's looking like a top 10 draft pick. I wonder if he'll take me to Brooklyn to cover him in the NBA draft.

Nope, unlike UNC, UK can't say they have had an undefeated national championship season...

Re 1957 Team

I see Joe Quigg around Fayetteville and at the country club/golf course quite frequently. He's a great guy. I was able to ask him about the game one time (he hit the game winning free throws and then tipped the ball away from Wilt in the final seconds), and he had great stories.

I believe Tommy Kearns (starting pg who jumped center against Wilt as a joke) has a son who was your fraternity brother, correct?

I talked to Lennie Rosenbluth for a long time at the NC Sports Hall of Fame press conference once. He was super nice. Mostly we discussed his stint as the boys basketball coach at Fike High here in the mid '60s

Somebody posted this on Twitter yesterday. From Reynolds Coliseum, possibly during the ACC or Dixie Classic tourneys.

Yes but he was older than me, gone before I got there but he still came around some. Kearns Sr. just endowed a scholarship for a guard on the basketball team this year...

I doubt UK ever had to beat a team with a player like Wilt during the 40's or 50's...

I wonder what it was like for UK to face an integrated team on the big stage under Rupp...

Re Image: I've heard my uncle talk about how you could cut the smoke with a knife in those old barns like Reynolds back in the day.

Coby White

I remember Kearns with long hair hanging out with Joe Wolf at Spanky's one night in the summer of '86. It seemed like they were eating eballs like we were.

looks like the bastion of southern integration in that picture posted above between Duke and UNC

They were playing air-tight defense and boxing out just like all those teams did in those days.

Incorrect. That was my 8th post of the last four days.

Why do you lie, eCat?
