A group of top career officials at the State Department left their jobs the same day Secretary of State Rex Tillerson paid a visit to Foggy Bottom to introduce himself, it was reported Thursday.
The Washington Post reported that the four — including Patrick Kennedy, State’s long-time undersecretary for management — resigned on Wednesday.
But Administration sources told CNN that the four were fired because Team Trump wants State to chart a new course.
Kennedy, a nine-year veteran, had been active in the transition from John Kerry to the former-Exxon/Mobil chief, and was said to want to remain in his post.
But once word got out that Team Trump was looking to give him the boot and hire someone else, he and three of his top aides bailed, the Washington Post said.

It's a real brain-drain alright. Now bring on the people least qualified to run the agency they've been awarded. The common thread being their "Billionaire Boys Club" membership.

In His First Major TV Interview as President, Trump is Endlessly Obsessed About His Popularity
http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/ ... id=U142DHP
Ignore the editorializing by the author if you like - just pay attention to what Trump says. The man is fucking nuts.
I make the following declaration with the confidence that everyone here is at least functionally sane and able to make accurate judgements wrt to a crazy person talking crazy: to wit, and henceforth,
all discussion of our new president begins with the baseline knowledge that he is batshit outta-his-head and truly suffers from that narcissistic personality disorder thingy.
Kindly carry on.

Thanks SG. Apparently crash and I have different but similar points of view on the subject.

So stipulated, with two provisos:
1: That even crazy people like Trump can still do good things, and...
2: "Everyone here" shall not be construed to include IB.

I'll grudgingly concede 1.
2 is a given but I don't feeling like editing the "everyone here".

Understandable. You don't want that "stripe of shame" saying you edited and how many times. It's just not worth it.

So the WH confirmed the report that Trump personally made the call to the National Park Service asking for inauguration pics in an effort to buttress his crowd claims. The spokesman said something about the hands-on nature of the man...what wasn't said is the suspicion that his aides are trying desperately to limit Trump's exposure to unflattering news. To basically turn the damn TV off.
Week one still not in the books.

The process of building the Wall has started: Okay.
The process of financially punishing cities that harbor illegals who commit serious crimes in the US, and generally refuse to comply with federal immigration law: Better.
There are no plans to deport the Dreamers (and maybe, hopefully, eventually, all the law abiding illegals already living here): better still.
Extreme vetting of admitting people from countries teeming with the human equivalent of melanoma cells before we start injecting them directly into our country en mass: awesome.

Trump fighting MSM fake news with his own fake news: bad. Two wrongs don't make right.
Trump's punching MSM in the face for 40 years of irresponsible and hopelessly partisan reporting: priceless.

I must say, it is amusing watching liberal democrat mayors of sanctuary cities suddenly discovering the old idea of states' rights. Who knew that Emanuel and DeBlasio would be channeling George Wallace by standing up to the bullying of the federal government? Standing in the Mexican restaurant back door, shouting:
"Inmigrantes illegales ahora, inmigrantes illegales manana, inmigrantes illegales por los siglos!"

This is the good stuff - domestic policies where he is operating within Constitutional checks and balances.
The scary part is his foreign policy, where there are few Constitutional limitations on any president. Trump can vent his craziness on the Dem's and the press all he wants. But the Chinese and the Russians have nuclear weapons. There is little room for his infantile petulance in dealing with them.
