its hard to imagine a billionaire buying a paper that most likely is struggling to turn a profit just to be a propaganda machine for him - but it happened.

Who is Abu? Not Bin Laden. Obama killed the most wanted terrorist of our time. Abu? Seriously? Wasn't he in a Disney movie?

Bezos IS worried, thats why he bought the thing. The whole purpose of owning the Washington Post and also attempting to entrench his company into Washington DC and New York City with alternate headquarters is as a defense against the inevitable moment when the US Government and Amazon will be adversaries in some sort of anti-trust action.

That Lt. Colonel's testimony buried Fat Donnie but yeah - the WaPo should fire their obituary staff before another national calamity befalls us. Christ O'Malley.

its pretty amazing to me that a newspaper can be bullied by social media and other forms of complaints to change a headline.

Its equal parts this cancel culture we live in and the newspaper lack of both vetting and commitment to being blind to bias.

I would much rather the Washington Post take a stand with their headline and tell people to fuck off versus changing a headline because people are squealing about it.

Fuck all that. All media needs to be held accountable for their bias. Who the fuck thought it was a good idea to promote a ISIS leader as a religious scholar should be fired.

And with the cancel culture, well now it needs to work both ways and show that the media is not immune to this at all.

It used to be a big deal for a newspaper to print a retraction - and that was often a smaller piece of information in the overall story. Just 3 years into Trumps presidency and no one thinks anything about a newspaper changing its headline due to public outcry or a reporter's hypocrisy

How can you be a credible news source if the news you print is subject to the approval of your readers? - and that's completely by passing how can you be credible if you let your personal or newsroom as a whole allow their bias into a story.

They should be held accountable - but my point is more focused on they shouldn't be putting themselves in a position to be held accountable for bad journalism.

Agreed. And Laura Ingraham needs to get the boot for making Lt. Col. Vindman out to be a traitor. You'd agree with that too.

LMAO!

We were way overdue for a good old fashioned Tickian THIS IS IT! moment. How many does that add up to? To be honest I’ve lost track. How have all the previous THIS IS IT!’s worked out?

The transcript of what Trump said is out there for anybody to read for at least a month now. There’s no more “there “” there than in any of the other THIS IS IT’s that have been tried and failed. How some LTC feels about what Trump said on that phone call is no more significant than how 300,000,000 other Americans feel about it. There’s a saying about feelings and assholes... everybody’s got one.

I look forward to watching that LTC trying to explain to a REAL committee - a Senate committee - why he tried to alter the transcript to make it align with his feelings. Attempts to falsify official government documents is a felony. That needs to be investigated....

I'm ok with a platform making a blanket decision to ban *all* political ads like twitter is supposedly doing (I'm skeptical) and I am OK with a platform making a decision to not police political ads .

I"m not OK with any of them making a decision on who can or cannot post political ads on their site.
