I met Coach Battle a couple of times. A real gentleman and an all-around good guy.

Alabama missed a golden opportunity to lure Jay Jacobs away from Auburn. AD's of his caliber are rare indeed.

REC said he was no challenge at AU, why bother?

The REC should have used all their power, and all their skills, to lure Jay Jacobs to Bama as AD. He could have done for all Bama's sports teams what he has done for Auburn's. As AA once said of Tony Franklin's feared "spread eagle offense," that's a helluva thing...

I do like the REC posts. It's as close as I'll ever be to becoming famous....or infamous.

Mal Moore seemed like a classy individual. I hope that his family is holding up well, and I hope he died without pain and agony.

Pretty dedicated old dude. Very commendable work ethic.
I plan on retiring at least 20 years before I go.

As player, assistant coach and AD, Moore had a hand in 10 national championships. (And those were the real national championships, not the dubious ones.) That's an amazing career.

At least he didn't call a press conference and have his oversized cap on sideways.
