It shouldn't be that surprising that blacks weren't as motivated to turn out for an old white woman vs one of their own.
Stunningly, Trump got a higher percentage of the Latino vote than Romney did - 29% to 27%.

Maybe Romney should have spent a year running around threatening and insulting Hispanics like Trump did.

I'm hearing this from many people I know who are otherwise dependable repub voters, or at the very least they tend to lean more towards repub candidates. Very small sample size, obviously, but if that's the trend this year (and I believe it is), this is going to be a landslide for Hillary and perhaps all the way down the ballot.
Trump is an unmitigated disaster for establishment repubs. I know many of his supporters don't care about that and indeed many are hoping to send a message that they are tired of establishment repubs. But when you've got a two party system and one party is consolidating whilst the other is imploding, I think you're going to see democratic control of federal politics for the foreseeable future.
I'm sure the pendulum will swing back the other way eventually, but most of the people in here will be dead by then, or being fed with a feeding tube, so it won't matter. I hope you dolts enjoyed those 8 years of Bush and Fox News/Hannity/Rush Limbaugh/Breitbart/Alex Jones/that other guy whose name I can't remember but he was probably the most fucked up one out of all of them, b/c that was your finest hour (which is the greatest indictment of all of ya'll that I can imagine), but it's over. OVAH.
Goodbye, fucknuts. The rest of your measly lives are now to be spent griping and grumbling and bitching b/c things just aren't how you want them to be. In fairness, that's pretty much how you spent those 8 years of your ascendancy as well, but at least you had power then. Now you've got nothing. And it was all your own doing. Congrats on that...
Heh....

More from tick's new fav.....
..The surprise is that Barack Obama must have immediately seen his legacy, a compound of stylistic and substantive arrogance, disappearing, as though written on water in ink of vapor.
His health-care reform has contributed to three Democratic drubbings. The 2010 and 2014 wave elections, like scythes in a wheat field, decapitated a rising generation of potential party leaders. Then came Tuesday's earthquake, which followed shocking increases of Obamacare's prices. This law has been as historic as Obama thinks, but not as he thinks: It might be the last gasp of progressivism's hubris expressed in continentwide social engineering imposed from the continent's eastern edge.....
Obama's foreign-policy legacy, aside from mounting chaos worldwide, was the Iran nuclear agreement. By precedent and constitutional norms, this should have been a treaty submitted to the Senate. Instead, disdainfully and characteristically, he produced it as an executive agreement. Because the agreement lacks legitimizing ratification by senators, the president-elect will feel uninhibited concerning his promise to repudiate it.

"Yet on Tuesday, the constituency that surged to the polls for Obama in record numbers -- fiercely punching far above its weight to support and defend the first black president -- didn't answer the call for Clinton, his chosen successor."
Turns out a lot of people didn't turn out to vote for either candidate. In 2012, Obama beat Romney by a count of approximately 66 million to 61 million, with the libertarian and green party candidates getting a palty 1.75 million votes b/w them. So that's a total of 128.75 million total votes cast. This year (although the count isn't completely done yet, it's close enough), Hillary got just over 60 million votes, Trump got 59.75 million. Gary Johnson and Jill Stein got a much healthier 5.3 million votes b/w them, for a total of 125 million votes cast, almost 4 million less total votes cast than in 2012. Clearly the excitement factor for Hillary wasn't there, as she got almost 6 million less votes than Obama, but Trump also got (barely) less than Romney in 2012. And this from the repubs most galvanizing, "exciting" candidate in decades. Clearly there is a much greater well of dem votes out there, but Hillary simply wasn't the candidate who could tap into them. Maybe Bernie or Joe Biden could have, but I suspect that in 2020, the dems will find somebody who will...

Re: Toe's repost of my earlier post: As I said, very small sample size and most of the repubs I know are of the George Will mode. I tend not to associate with the angrier evangelical types (except in here, of course), so clearly I am, thank god, happily and deliberately out of touch with that bloc of republican blockheads. We'll see how this turns out. For the sake of the country, I hope Trump does better than everything he has said leads me to believe. Of course, he was a democrat until just a few years ago and I'm pretty sure he's more liberal-minded than even the average republican, so maybe he'll be a Manchurian candidate who breaks the hearts of all the trailer dwelling yokels and angry middle class whiteys that voted for him. Here's hoping...

11/7/16....somebody lied.....
Asked Monday by CBS about any decline in black turnout nationally, Clinton campaign manager Robbie Mook said: "We're just not seeing that. Actually, we're really proud that African-Americans are supporting Secretary Clinton at the same rate as President Obama. We're seeing in Florida in particular, African-American turnout is up from 2012."

LOL.
There will be record black turnout in November, especially if the GOP nominates Trump or Cruz.
Kasich is a curious case, 8 years ago, he was viewed as a hard right winger. Now, he's at the same place but the GOP has moved so far right that he's now considered a moderate. Kasich, however, pulled 30% of the Black vote in his reelection in Ohio. I don't know how that would translate nationally, but if a GOP candidate could pull 18%-20% of the Black vote, the nature of the election changes greatly.
Of more concern to the GOP should be the Latino vote. If that continues as a 70% Democratic base, by 2024 the Democrats will own the ouse, Senate and 40 State legislatures.
We're still 8 years from 2024.

All of the 11 and 12 year old kids in that lunchroom in Michigan were US citizens . . . including the brown ones who were the objects of the chanting.

Something similar happened at my youngest's high school today.
The Hispanic kids - illegally or illegally - who hear chants of "build that wall" today are going to remember it. They will understandably become block captains and precinct bosses organizing a massive voting block in 2024 and beyond.
This kind of thing is plain old mean now, and suicidal for Republicans in the long run.
