There are certainly some ways to thin the labor herd that could drive up wages but it's going to be hard to get people to pay more for something they've already set a value for. We fought a whole war over labor costs 150 some years ago.

Besides, many of these beaners coming to America aren't doing so for the data plans and laptops. They're leaving places where there is no law and order because of drug cartels. You won't fix that with a wall or other legislative actions.

Which goes back to my plan in 2003 that we should have invaded Mexico instead of Iraq. Once again, I was right, motherfuckers

"The kind of people whose jobs are threatened by mass illegal immigration used to be the heart and soul of the Democrat party."

And you were voting republican back then, too...

Yeah, but you could help it with legislative action, i.e., aid to those countries (which are our neighbors) from which people are fleeing. But Trump has cut that aid. Genius...

I vote for crippling Mexico economically by closing the border

it would hurt us too, but Mexico would get serious about stopping these people from entering their country in the first place. We would out last them.

Clearly someone has told Trump that is a horrible idea and he's backed away from it.

Before we cripple Mexico, let's give Trump's renewed family separation policy another go. That one doesn't get much world-wide acclaim (nor do landmines or sniper towers), but the prospect of kids never reunited with their parents would surely give the lawbreakers and/or asylum seekers pause.

it would but not nearly enough. see I recognize its sarcasm on your part, but I have no qualms with this policy

over 75% of the world lives on less than $10 a day. We can't solve world poverty, crime or injustice.

All this humanity does is lower our standard of living as we inject poverty, illiteracy, crime and disease into this country.

We can't solve the problems we have now. If we have to take measure to insure that we don't add to them, I'm 100% behind it.

I have an obligation to give the best option I can to my children just as these people in other countries feel they do.

That is Nationalism.

House Intelligence Committee ranking member Devin Nunes filed a $150 million lawsuit in Virginia state court against The McClatchy Company and others on Monday, alleging that one of the news agency's reporters conspired with a political operative to derail Nunes' oversight work into the Hillary Clinton campaign and Russian election interference.

The filing, obtained by Fox News, came a day after Nunes, R-Calif., revealed he would send eight criminal referrals to the Justice Department this week concerning purported surveillance abuses by federal authorities during the Russia probe, false statements to Congress and other matters.

In March, Nunes filed a similar $250 million lawsuit alleging defamation against Twitter and one of its users, Republican consultant Liz Mair. In Monday's complaint, Nunes again named Mair as a co-defendant, charging this time that she conspired with McClatchy reporter MacKenzie Mays to spread a variety of untruthful and misleading smears -- including that Nunes "was involved with cocaine and underage prostitutes" -- online and in print.

Reached for comment late Monday, Mair directed Fox News to a USA Today op-ed she penned earlier this week concerning Nunes' previous lawsuit entitled, "Free speech means I don't have to be nice to Devin Nunes on Twitter. So why's he suing me?"

A spokesperson for McClatchy told Fox News late Monday: "We have no comment and stand behind the strong reporting of The Fresno Bee," the McClatchy-owned publication cited throughout Nunes' lawsuit.

--------------

normally the bar is so high to prove defamation against a politician, they don't even try, but in this case, the reporter wrote a story about Nunes having a fundraise on a yacht with cocaine , russians and prostitutes

except the reality was - he was an investor in the winery, the winery held a charity where people would would get a cruise which turned out the people that bought the event brought women and cocaine on board and the only way Russians were involved is they sold wine to Russians in 2013. Its questionable if Nunes even knew about the charity event, much less used it as a fundraiser.

The Fresno Bee "stands behind the story" except what they don't mention is they had to make edits on the story after it was published to change the Russian storyline.

Normally I wouldn't care too much about this - he's a politician, big deal, but the writer of the story was given and op-ed in USA Today to defend herself and she wrapped herself in her first amendment rights to report on a politician - and was quoting everyone from James Madison to Ronald Reagan in her defense.

It was both horrible judgement by USA Today and very pathetic on her part to actually believe what she did was considered journalism at any standard.

This isn't anything new. Hearst was notorious for this sort of thing, but I think even his standards was more based on selective reporting rather than outright lies.

At any rate, this is the basic framework of why libel and defamation laws exist because the truth is the absolute defense against libel and in this case, its going to be pretty easy to prove the reporter knew the truth before printing.
