LMAO. Wow. Way to go NYT...

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/09/09/us/po ... leppo.html
Gary Johnson, the former New Mexico governor and Libertarian Party presidential nominee, revealed a surprising lack of foreign policy knowledge on Thursday that could rock his insurgent candidacy when he could not answer a basic question about the crisis in Aleppo, Syria.
Correction: September 8, 2016
An earlier version of this article incorrectly called the city of Aleppo the de facto capital of the Islamic State and an ISIS stronghold. Raqqa, in northern Syria, is the de facto ISIS capital.

aTm wrote: Gary Johnson should probably know what Aleppo is, but its hardly something that more than 5 out of 100 people would know wtf you are talking about if you asked them about it, although I'm sure many are now filing it away for use as smug superiority.
Thing is, probably 10 out of a hundred people know who Gary Johnson is. Thanks to this story that number may triple. There was audio that caught him kicking himself over it - "I'm so frustrated with myself" after his segment with Scarbrough..but in this age of Trump, saying anything unpolitical in a political setting gets you to the top of the page.

The article now added a correction to the correction.

We apologize for the fault in article. Those responsible have just been sacked. We apologize again for the fault in the correction. Those responsible for sacking the people who have just been sacked, have been sacked
Correction: September 8, 2016
An earlier version of this article misidentified the de facto capital of the Islamic State. It is Raqqa, in northern Syria, not Aleppo.

Correction: September 8, 2016
An earlier version of the above correction misidentified the Syrian capital as Aleppo. It is Damascus.

Mika looks like she would've been a real hottie 25 years ago. Not DWS hot, but definitely worthy of buying a drink and taking a shot.

Oh my aching head...

Before I started drinking, the last thing I remember was something about Gary Johnson and Aleppo.

After I passed out, I dreamed of Sara Palin, but then she morphed into Gary Johnson. It was a real nightmare.

What happened?

LOL even the caption reads "Tsar of the New Russia"

Attn: Trump supporters, the definition of Tsar is emporer or monarch; an autocratic ruler or tyrant. Not exactly a term of endearment for a supposed democratily-elected president. But hey - I hear he's polling at 88% approval in his own country...tremendous numbers. Yuge.

Oh yeah, proof positive the lefty media shares The Donald's Putin-love. No doubt coming to an email inbox near me in various forms..

And now the Trump braintrust has Pence gobbling Putin's knob too. Meanwhile, what THE fuck is going on with the GOP? How much more of this insanity are they going to put up with? It's a given that Trump's claim about shooting somebody in the middle of 5th Avenue and still keeping his base is real, but c'mon. Bash our generals and praise a Russian despot in practically the same sentence...that sounds like Weather Underground language, right? Inspiration from an acid flashback?

So Thursday Paul Ryan is cornered about Trump's putin-love/general-hate and his response is "no comment." I have zero respect for that guy and I just can't believe how the GOP has rolled over and abided this clown show. Any of 12 or 13 of their primary candidates would probably be leading (if not mopping up the floor with) Hillary right now but instead their ditto-head wing selected a bona-fide nutcase and now people are wondering what a republican really is these days. Maybe ask George Will what he thinks...at least he'll talk about it. Party leaders - not so much.
