RE Sheridan and Finebum...agreed. They are not in the "journalism" business to me. They are in the "entertainment" and "subscription sales" businesses. There aren't many "journalists" out there.

Hopefully, AU can come away smelling as well as Tennessee has in the end. To me the reason most pundits continue to bring up the Auburn investigation is because as Chizik was hoisting the trophy, many people across the country wondered if AU would have to vacate it, much like USC 5 years later. Hang on to it until someone comes after it.

I disagree strongly with the talent deficit argument. AU has had plenty of talent. Had Tubby not tried the spread "Eagle" offense, he would probably still be your head coach. Your defense that year was tired and worn out as the offense tried to adjust and spun its wheels.

How many of the now departed "Trailer Park Boys" and other assorted worms were part of those top 5 and No 1 classes?

Prof,

Let's start over. I'm best man in a wedding next week (sept 10th). The friend is an Auburn alum. In the spirit of such a joyous occasion, I offer you an olive branch.

What do you say, fucktard, friends?

Tubby resigned in December 2008. His last four recruiting classes were ranked by Scout as 18, 6, 9, and 22. Those rankings were routinely lower than those of our SEC rivals. And that doesn't account for the fact that many of Tubby's highest ranked recruits never made it to campus because of grades and other issues. Tubby wasn't a bad recruiter; he was just a mediocre recruiter surrounded by better recruiters. In his defense, Tubby got a lot of production from his modestly talented players. In that respect, he was the anti-Richt.

Hmmm. An offer of an olive branch from AA. Let me see...

Oh, and Prof. The above posts are just sport with me. Looking back I tried to make you look like John Wayne Gacy, when at your worst you are no more than a Jeffrey Dahmer.
Take prof, for example. He's a classic example. A bad, classless fan who throws rumor around like it's fact. Remember Dre's Charger? Lmao! He's ran with every message board rumor like a special olympics kid with a plastic baton.

He's the worst of the worst: a bad fan and a worse person.

Wow. Idiot. No, you did fun with it. You always do. You stick your head up from the bunker or ITAT or whatever and you proclaim the rumors as fact. DRE'S CHARGER! OMG!!!!

Then you wave the Yeager-gun line about like a drunk with a broken beer bottle. You are quick to drop the NCAA sanction line on others, but when it's (correctly) pointed out that no team on the SEC has had more major sanctions for cheating than Auburn, you quickly go into mitigation mode.

You're a bad person, a bad fan, a liar, and an idiot.
So glad you posted that. Again, it proves my prior assertion that you are a liar and a bad fan: Remember a couple of years back when Alabama beat Auburn for the first time in a number of years and how impressed you were that I didn't throw that into your face? You talked about how classy I was and how you planned to do the same when Auburn won again. Again, you are a liar and a bad fan. I am so glad you aren't a Bama fan. You are essentially 'Professor Harvey Updike'.
You are a goddamned idiot. Seriously, if stupidity were painful, we'd have to shoot you to put you out of your misery. Of course, Alabama is innocent, you mouth-breathing simpleton- both were hired in 2011.
In fact, Prif Dumbass's original statement is not funny or noteworthy. So, you preach where Ingram's dad is doing time. Congrats. My original statement still rings true: So. What.

Dishonesty has become your trademark; your standard.
Wow, you are a moron. Do you read 'NCAA' in my post? Tennessee self-imposed and the NCAA will rule on it soon. Currently, in football, that means LSU, Tennessee and Alabama (for the text book loans) are on probation.

Prof comes sauntering in here still smelling from kerosene after burning crosses in his 'negro' neighbor yards and most of us here have received on of his infamous racist jokes in our e-mail boxes.

Yep.

Don't scurry like a cockroach now that the light is being brought to your racist ways, prof!
That's just from the past month. There's plenty more, but you get the picture.

So, why the sudden "olive branch," AA?

::Still puzzled by AA's sudden request for me to participate in his weird little self-absolution ritual. He has these once every few years. I guess I can play along...::

Sure, AA. You're just a peach of a guy. You're not nearly the pompous insufferable dick like your posts sound. In fact, you're every bit the charming raconteur you always knew you were deep down, but nobody else has ever actually seen. Now, go to your friend's wedding in peace, with all my best regards. Just don't yell "ROLL TIDE!" when they are pronounced man and wife, and try not to drink all his liquor at the reception.

Excellent.

And you aren't the sham preacher on a prison's payroll that peddles gossip and rumors like a drunken sailor on shore leave. Even your post accepting the olive branch is full of camaraderie and is devoid of any semblance of barbs, sarcasm and passive aggressiveness.

Anyway, I was not seeking absolution (even if you were able to grant such). Just simply a break from the oneupsmanship that you and I are involved in, seemingly, endlessly.

AA, for an occasion like a wedding, make sure to pick out your best polyester double-knit Crimson leisure suit. I recommend one from the Harvey Updyke collection, with his likeness outlined in rinestones on the back. Tom's got plenty of them; all signed by Bama players, all for sale in his store front window. The autograph ink may have smudged the price tag, though. But they look fabulous on Tom's facebook page.

At the wedding, remember your supposed to kiss the BRIDE, not the groom, at the receiving line. You always forget that.

AA, I was only kidding about that kissing the bride thing. I certainly hope that you didn't take any offense at that. If you did, then you're just a humorless dork who doesn't appreciate my superb sense of humor.

AA, I felt really bad calling you a humorless dork. But then, after a few seconds went by, I realized that you really are a pompous humorless dork, and deserved to be called that.

Ooops. Did I just say "pompous" too? Sorry about that too. Don't get mad or anything. I was just kidding anyway, so no biggie.

So how many of those top 5 and No 1 classes are part of the Trailer Park Boys and other worms? He (Tubby) at least didn't wind up having a bail bondsman on speed dial. The last SEC coach who needed that was Fulmer, and if he hadn't left UT would have two with Kiffeninenin.

I don't really want to disrespect Chizik, he just won a MNC. But he doesn't have the greatest track record for development of players. Wait a minute. He doesn't HAVE a track record for development of players. 2 years at ISU, 2 years at AU. Much like Meyer and Tebow. Chizik caught lightening in a bottle with the right player and supporting cast. Tebow just wanted to stay around for more than a 1 and done. Talent doesn't always translate to wins. Just ask Richt.

You're still quoting Scout?
