I'm now at the age where if I start working, I can't stop because if I take a break, then I'm stiff the rest of day. That's why I post mostly in the morning and evenings - I gotta keep moving in the middle of the day

Kids playing soccer with the Foo Fighters is what they go after? Jesus. The NCAA is a joke. Raze the whole organization and start over.

Yeah, somebody on IC likened the NCAA going after a UK soccer player to the DEA walking past a trailer full of heroin to bust a guy smoking a joint in a VW bus...

An informal pick-up soccer game with the Foo Fighters, at that.

Dave Grohl: "Hey you guys want to kick a soccer ball around?"

UK soccer players: "NO! That would be a NCAA violation!!"

Just asinine.

CBS Sports did a series on who will replace coaches at UNC, UK, Duke and a couple of other schools. Here's the UNC evaluation (with links to the other programs):

I have about as much chance as becoming coach of UK as Shaka Smart does

He's going to have to do alot more than his current resume to get consideration

so I've been wanting a boat - nothing fancy, just something to play around with. Wife wanted a pontoon boat which would be great but I don't have room or the vehicle to deal with it.

also, all my boat money got sucked into putting a roof on the house so getting something higher end was out of the question this year.

Soooo I've been hitting up craigslist and facebook marketplace now and then and a couple of weeks ago I stumble upon a 16 foot aluminum bass tracker with a 25hp mercury motor. Guy had just put new wood/carpet in it, had open floor plan so we could bring the dogs and generally the wife was receptive of it. Now mind you , at 52, I've yet to actually back a boat down a boat ramp and I've never run a "tiller" engine before, but the price was right, it looked great and if I wanted a boat this year, this was going to be it, so I bought it, brought it home and this morning was the first free day I had to take it out.

I do all the things a man needs to do, bought some life jackets, rope, a few other odds-n-ends and we take it out to the local lake. It was a good day to get used to it. No one was around so I didn't have to wait in line at the boat ramp - so we do our thing - putting the boat in the water wasn't too difficult, it floated off the trailer more or less and the wife pulled it over to the side while I parked the car.

We get in the boat and push off from the dock and I'm trying to teach her how a trolling motor works, which would have went well had the trolling motor actually worked correctly. As it was, it only turned left and then wouldn't go back, and also she didn't realize once it was on, it stayed on, it wasn't like a gas pedal - and for a few moments we did circles in the lake about 30 feet from the dock - I'm sure to the enjoyment of the people watching.

Eventually we figure that out and hand adjust the trolling motor so we can get away from the dock and I can start the motor. The motor starts on the 3rd pull, runs great - no issues there but we're both so scared to go fast I'm just putting around out there.

That's when the fun started. It's probably never a good sign when you look at a boat and the second thing the guy points out is the bilge pump. I realize why now. As we are doing the slow sloops around the lake my wife points out that the back of the boat is really low to the waterline so I look down and sure enough - there is a reason why. We have about 4 inches of water in the back of the boat. No biggie I say, I'll turn on the bilge pump which immediately clogs up with leaves and shit floating around in the boat.

Now the wife is like "I'm over this, lets go home" and honestly, considering the boat was turning into a bath tub, I was too, so we pull up to the dock and without doing too much damage to my marriage we work together as much as two people who know nothing about boats can do to get this thing back on the trailer.

I pull back up the parking lot, pull the drain plug and by my geusstimate, about 7 gallons of water pours out from about 35 minutes on the water.

so like many other people who purchased boats on the cheap, I didn't buy a boat, I bought a project which I will begin working on next weekend. My summer of boating consisted of 1 time out for 35 minutes.

Where was the water coming in from?? That's your first order of business. Also, you don't have to get the boat going terribly fast and you can pull the plug in the back and it will drain out. Just make sure to put the plug back in before you stop...
