Hopefully I can continue voting my libertarian principles in the next election, but if its Trump vs a communist, I might vote for Trump. I'm sure Texas will be fine for team red regardless so I probably have nothing to worry about needing my vote to actually matter.

There are no communists running for anything in America. But we do have a guy in office now who loves the idea of totalitarianism, so there's that.

There are certainly people in elected office in America right now that promote a quasi-communist platform regardless of their political affiliation.

Team red and team blue both love totalitarianism, and we've had that mindset in the executive since after 9/11. Obama was just as much a totalitarian, much to the glee of team blue. Both sides want "their president" to unilaterally rule and implement whatever bullshit big government platforms they might have on any given day.

Yeah, but Trump's totalitarianism is dictatorship. He cares not about anyone or anything but his own interests. You could argue that every other politician is like that but Trump has zero concern about Civic duty. He's a bozo but he's more of a manifestation of our problems than the cause.
