I get them from time to time every Summer when my wife takes the kids and goes to her mother's for a week or two. The thing is, she normally does it during a stretch where we all have to be down there for some weekend activity. So, she'll leave on a Monday night, while I'm at work, but then I have to head down on Friday after work. My work hours are so crazy that the "bachelor week" isn't that much of a change from normal.
On a separate note, my daughter had her 4 years old bday party this weekend. It was a good time, but (in NYC, at least) these parties basically turn into an excuse for parents to party it up. These parents went through about 6 bottles of wine and an unknown quantity of beers. One mother was so obviously lit up from the drinks that if she wasn't there with her husband (and if they drove instead of walked) I would have made sure someone took her and her kids home. The other thing was that about 60% of the families had the fathers there, too. I didn't expect to see as much father turnout. I stay fearful I'll be stuck in some adult playdate with some couple because our kids are in the same class and our wives haven't learned to hate each other over petty differences or slights, yet.

Times have changed. With parties, you used to drop your kids off, then come back later and pick them up. Now the expectation is that you stay. The parents of the birthday kid then have to provide something for the parents. They also seem to have these parties every year. I'M having to explain to my 12 year old, we recognize your birthday, you don't get a party every year.

I can honestly say I have never gone to another kids party other than my own kids'. My only involvement is to pay for the gift and drop them off.
Twice a year I get a week to myself. Fly my wife and kids up to New England to the in laws and join them the next weekend a few days before we fly back. When I first did this, I had a difficult time figuring out what to do because I wasn't used to so much freedom, but now it's easy. Hang out at the uptown establishments after work, flirt with the waitresses/bartenders a bit. Take in a game or two. Go to movies that I want to see, etc. I love it.

Thread at KSR
https://kentucky.rivals.com/showmsg.asp ... 88&style=2
Let me first say this thread isn't about some frustration against the basketball team (how could you?), but rather the nightmare I experienced while my wife and I was there (I came home alone).
We were recently married (January) and we had been dating for 2 years and I had no idea what a pain in the @ss, pretentious, and absolute wh@re she would turn out to be. This is the first time that we have traveled.
She complained all the way down there. The top complaints were (I kept keeping up with them after awhile)
1) The Airport is hot
2) Why do I have to take off my shoes?
3) The peanuts are too salty
4) Airport at destination - It's REALLY hot!
5) I need a hat. I don't like anything they have here.
6) The sheets on the bed are too rough. The thread count is too low.
I could go on and on....
The final straw was walking into the room on the last night and she was in bed with two guys (black)....packed and left her there. Still haven't heard from her and I have been home for 4 days. Oh well, good riddance. The divorce is in process as I type.

Did he really need to list all those other things in light of the ultimate betrayal? Also, would it have mattered if it had been two white guys??

Still, the cataloging of minor complaints followed by "oh yeah, and I also caught her in bed with two black dudes" as if that was just an afterthought to the indignities he had to endure earlier was pretty funny...

If those two guys were 4 star recruits, everyone of you Kentucky knobgobblers would have joined her.
