you're going to hear stories like this from every Olympics, but I have a feeling the Rio Olympics are going to be a real shitstorm

This week’s scheduled move-in for the Olympic athletes’ village in Brazil fell flat, as the Australian delegation refused to enter the facilities due to serious issues with plumbing and fire safety.

That’s according to the Sydney Morning Herald, which cites the AOC claiming the Australian athletes arrived today intending to check into their rooms, only to find them “uninhabitable.” The Herald claims the Great Britain and New Zealand delegations found themselves in the same spot upon arrival this weekend.

The Australians discovered water flowing down the walls upon attempting to flush toilets, a strong smell of gas, and exposed wiring. The team is currently staying in hotels to await their accommodations for the Games.

The mayor of Rio takes it nuclear with this response after hearing their complaints

Plus, those rooms look like barracks and the beds are like cots.

so my wife hits me up with this

her youngest sister gave birth to their second child and it wrecked her body - like the doctor said she can't have anymore

but she's determined to have another child and she's asked my wife if she would consider being a surrogate.

I can fill up 4 pages of this site with reasons I think this is a horrible idea.

She has a middle sister who doesn't have kids and is really in prime baby making age, but because she doesn't have kids they're afraid she wouldn't give the child up or she'd go psycho about seeing the kid if she did.

I recognize this is a serious topic so I resisted the urge to go into the "because I'm the man and I said so!" approach and had to take a more nuanced approach to voice my objections

kinda like when your wife talks about having a 3some and you know if you appear too anxious she's gonna give you the sly eye and never talk about it again.

yea I was actually kind of taken aback by it because at first I didn't think she was serious.

As we continued talking I come to realize that her and her sister had already talked this thru.

Well, then you're fucked. Get ready for another run through the hell of pregnancy, except with no pay-off of your own child at the end. On the other hand, maybe that's a good thing.

Agree. This in the end really isn't going to be your decision. If you put your foot down, you will pay for it in other ways and in the end, she'll get what she wants anyway. Save yourself the aggravation. Tell her you're concerned about it and not really in favor of it, but that you'll support her in her decision.

during our morning walk this morning I think she realized that this was a bad idea

not the banging her sister part, but the baby part.
