The other night on Dateline a jury alternate was lamenting the fact that there was no blood found in the trunk, and that the prosecution did not produce a weapon. My usually serene wife wanted to reach into the tv and slap the slacker twit senseless.

The most incredible thing to me was the news that the jury had an early straw vote - right after the opening arguments - and were in favor of aquittal by a count of 10-2.

Yeah, no blood in the trunk means little with a broken neck. And it's pretty easy to see that Anthony carried the murder weapons, at the ends of her arms, with her to court every day.

London - AP - British Prime Minister David Cameron on Wednesday pledged that his government would look into whether American 9/11 victims were targeted by News Corp. journalists in the phone-hacking scandal.

uh oh

So, I snap my wife's neck. Duct tape her limbs and mouth and drop her in the woods after I carry her body around in my trunk for a bit (of course, that will leave the scent of human rot, but no biggie). Of course, I won't report it, and after a month or so of drinking and womanizing, if the cops ask, I will say she ran away with the pool boy and I helped her pack.

When that lie is uncovered, I can deny doing it, and without blood (?) in my trunk and no murder weapon (save, of course, my own hands), I am a free man?

Cool. BRB. Googling chloroform and neck breakin'.

Some juror probably got vocal early on about the lack of "hard" evidence and the rest fell in line. One or two strong personalities could have influenced the whole group, just as they began to form an attitude about reasonable doubt . Too bad the suspect showed bad form by not committing the deed in front of a witness or a security camera. Or wrote a confession in blood.

Of course there is no jury anymore - they've all scattered, along with any sense of a group accomplishment There definitely won't be any reunions or get-togethers. I think each one is going to carry a pretty heavy burden the rest of their days...unless they're made of stronger stuff than one would suspect.

I would assume you're correct.

I don't think any REASONABLE person would look at the facts that we have available in the case and vote to aquit.

That's because there wasn't any REASONABLE doubt.

Those jurors were definately not reasonable. They were beyond reason and likely would have voted to aquit even if they would have had her on video killing the poor child. Their excuse then would have been some BS PTSD reasoing or "the video could have been doctored".

Yes AA, I believe any male would have been found guilty in the same situation with either the child or a wife.

It was very interesting standing in the line at the store and to see the People's magazine headline a week before the verdict about how many criminal law experts thought that there wasn't enough evidence to convict Casey.

I suggests all of you that are wannabe or pseudo attorneys read DS's post.

1. Not reporting her baby "missing" for 31 days.
2. Partying while the baby was missing for a month.
3. Lying about a nanny taking the baby.
4. Google searches for how to break a neck and how to make chloroform.
5. Expert testimony re: the smell of decay in her car.

Now, given the above, and replace the baby with my wife and I honestly believe I would be doing hard time now.
As well put as I've heard it.

While I disagree with the outcome, I have to agree with DS. ...spits... The prosecution did NOT do it's job for the charges filed, therefore probably should have charged the woman with some other things.

What really should have happened is a double tap to the back of her head.

1. I'm not a wannabe lawyer, I do employee a couple, so that counts, right?

2. The fact that i am not an attorney does not preclude me from voicing an opinion.

3. The jury's verdict is what it is. All I can tell you, it would have been a hung jury if I had served. Prosecutor walks in and says, "Googled chloroform and how to break a neck, the baby was "miissing" for 31 days and she didn't report it to anyone. While her baby was "missing" she started partying. When authorities questioned her, she lied and said the nanny took her. Plus, the smell of rot in her car..... Prosecution rests."

4. I asked this earlier, what evidence would have been enough? If Susan Smith had stuck with her story, would she be free?

I wonder why this case got so much national attention. Mothers kill their children all the time. In Chicago, so many women leave their live babies in dumpsters that they have a law that says, if you leave your baby at a police station or fire house, you won't be charged.

Each of these cases is a horrible tragedy. I just wonder why this particular tragedy was so televised.

I also expect Ms. Anthony to be on "Dancing With the Stars" soon.
