Eddie looks good to be in his early 50s. When I saw this I immediately thought of Tyrone Green and his Reggae Band from SNL...

Going back to Cali. Got my plane ticket for next weekend to go to the shows. Got tickets for Sunday night already, Saturday night shouldn't be a problem. Hope somebody is selling doses in the parking lot...

I'm envious. You've got a couple of really good BOG albums to look forward to hearing for the first time...

Excellent. First night was like something from the late 1960's, quite a few songs I had never seen them play and I doubt they ever played during my time. Some were rarities, but that was cool. Trey filled in admirably, but you just wish it could've been Jerry playing those sets. Oh well. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the second set was played without a break, they just kept segueing in and out of tunes and I'm pretty sure it was over 2 hours, and seemed like closer to three...

Second night I found some doses in the parking lot, so that was more like my usual Dead experience. The setlist wasn't loaded with my favorites, but I was busy thinking that a consortium of Silicon Valley companies were testing some new technology (thru my acid addled brain), but I was glad to be part of it, until it occurred to me that it could be aliens, so I ended up hoping they were friendly. They opened with Feel Like a Stranger (and I did), which made me happy b/c that was the opener of my first show. Black Peter was the other first set highlight, but the rest of the set was pretty average (Loose Lucy, Row Jimmy, blah blah blah, although I think I read somewhere that Row Jimmy was one of Jerry's favorites).

Second set picked up better, esp. He's Gone (and crowd favorite (but not really mine) Wharf Rat, and then they threw in another throw back (way back) with Death Don't Have No Mercy and of course the closer of Brokedown Palace was great. Certainly lived up to my expectations, and then some. Chicago should be a blast...
