No, what's simple is if you ground your club in a trap or a hazard it's a 2 stroke penalty. Period.

The fact that she didn't realize she grounded her club is immaterial. Just like 30 years ago Craig Stadler didn't know he was building a stance with a hand towel. If players are unable or unwilling to call penalties on themselves, then it's absolutely right for somebody (anybody) else with that knowledge to come forward. This isn't like all the other pro sports (or politics, or relationships). Snitches don't get stiches in golf. A HD close-up on the last day of the Open Championship...tough shit for her.

And besides, with the aid of that penalty an American won the LPGA U.S. Open against 100 to 1 odds (Lydia Ko and 17 other South Koreans were favorites to win). Why does Sardis hate America?

course looked interesting

kinda thought it was poetic justice after what she pulled at the solheim cup that she should get bad juju her way but I thought she handled the 2 shot penalty very well. I always root for pillar. she has a nice swing and good form. plus a good golf game

These were different people. I assume Nordqvist was on the European team last year but it was a different Scandinavian player - Suzanne Pettersen - who mixed up in that concession at the SC.

Hedge, what happened was that in a four ball match, one of the American women had a very short putt that would tie the hole (I think it was less than 2 feet). This is a putt that would very commonly be conceded and she thought she heard one of the European players say it was good. And, to compound things, both of them were walking off the green to the next tee which is not something you;d do if you were making the other side putt out. So, she picked up the ball without putting. It turns out, the putt was not conceded so by picking it up, she, the American player, conceded the hole to the other side. It was very late in the match (17th hole I think) and I think the American team ended up losing 1 down as a result. I'm not as sure about that but it was a BS move by the European team. It was within the rules but definitely not a cool move.

I just read up on it, looks like that move by Euro chick put the Americans down 4 going into the final round, but they ended up winning the next day...

US National Team 4th in Copa America, sold out attendance to all games. For the Euro Cup final 300 million watched all over the world--and it is not as big as the world Cup! I notice in the fat boys baseball games half the seats are empty, even in the supposedly big name games. Sorry guys, you are losing the battle, Real Football, Soccer, Futbol, is here to stay and its growing and growing!

Ratings were actually about 3 times higher than that. Another 5 million people watched on Univision, some of them will have also been English speakers without cable.

Getting to this late, but I just saw Rory Mcilroy's comments about golf at the Olympics. How dare he...
