And that's your excuse for leaving the pork in the Pentagon's budget? I'm all for a strong military because it is vital to our economic interests--especially blue water navy and air power--but the Pentagon needs to have the pork taken out as soon as possible.

I said I'm okay with cutting the Pentagon budget. I'm just saying that when the budget cutting is done, you will have a lot of Air Force bases with bustling PX's, but no functioning airplanes taking off or landing, Navy bases with Olympic swimming pools but no ships putting out to sea, etc. That's not good.
If my choice is focusing 0.5% of the budget or 60% of the budget that actually matters to the debt, I take the 60% and the crumbs stay on the floor.
puter, do I remember correctly that you own a small business? If so, I have a question: if you caught one of your employees stealing a thousand dollars from your business, would you accept the thieving employee's excuse: "Gee Mr. puterbac, this company has hundreds of thousands of dollars in sales ever year. I only stole a measly thousand from you. It's nothing compared to the money you and this company rake in. Pay no attention to the relatively small amount that I stole, worry about the REAL crooks out there, and let me get back to work, okay?" You would never accept that logic from someone stealing from your business, so I don't understand why you meekly accept politicians who steal your tax dollars in pork.

Man, News Corp is in trouble; at least in England. Now, they are looking at 3 of his English papers. Accusations of hacking of the phones of the Prime Minister, Prince Charles and his wife and someone posing as Gordon Brown to find out information on his newborn son (they published that he has Cystic Fibrosis in relative minutes after the parents found out themselves). Also being investigated in Australia supposedly and allegations of hacking the phones of 9/11 victim families.

Will need more of than just an allegation for it to take hold here in the U.S.

Which do you think is worse, printing alleged lies or hacking into the phones of private citizens, including hacking into the answering service of a missing 13 year old and erasing messages causing the parents to believe that their daughter had checked for messages themselves and was therefore alive (she wasn't)?

Christ tick its pathetic. Look at CNN below from the FRONT page and tell me what the difference is, or what your point is. Are you saying the stories are faked because their is entertainment stuff on the same page? Well wtf about CNN then. I mean its classic to ignore the message (article) and try and discount the source...were you on spin city?

And from the front page of CNN...FRONT page...

It's a little hurtful that you turned your back on American tabloids and have tended to favour the brits in recent years, that's all.

The Daily Mail is a joke. It's an awful newspaper. If you want to cite a conservative Brit paper, use the Telegraph. Not tabloid trash.

And here's a link to the story about Rupert's newspapers hacking into all sorts of things

http://abcnews.go.com/International/mur ... d=14050871

I like their justification for stealing medical records of Gordon's Brown's son: "the story was used to increase national understanding of the condition, in partnership with the Cystic Fibrosis Trust". LMAO

Rupert's empire is in trouble. Hacking the royal family to get scoops? Bribing police officers to track cellphones so they would know where an individual was going to be?

When in London, I will only read the Sun or the Daily Mail. Great newspapers. Get on the Tube (mind the gap) with a coffee and a DM - good times.

Pat Caddell, another dem pollster, is seeing the light.

“I’m sorry, but there’s an elephant in the room and it’s time to say it. This guy…from watching him Friday, with the unemployment numbers…he spent a year on passing healthcare instead of dealing with jobs and the economy. He has an agenda that seems totally focused politically. And the problem is, there is a whiff of this guy now, I saw it Friday…I lived through this with President Carter, when you start asking ‘Does this guy have any idea what he’s doing?’”
